There aren’t many opportunities to ride a sled down a snowbank during the winters in Georgia, but sleighs and sleds are still lovely symbols of Christmastime in The South (even if we don’t really know the difference between the two). The Alpine Adventure Bundle, which includes the Alpine Adventure stamp set and Alpine Sports Thinlits Dies, gives us a great variety of skis, snow boots (aka, foot sleds) and a sled. Today’s card features the gorgeous sled from the Alpine Sports Thinlits Dies. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Alpine Sports Bundle. Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog opens on Wednesday – September 5. I can’t wait to see what you are most excited about – it’s always fun to see customer orders come through so I know what people love most. One of the bundles that’s sure to be on many orders is the Alpine Sports Bundle. There are fun images and fun sentiments in the bundle. “Let it snow” and “Jingle all the way” and “Christmas greetings” are wonderful sentiments for any Christmas project. Here’s a look at the Alpine Adventures Bundle:
- Build-a-Sled. I cut out my sled twice – once with this wood-patterned page from Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper and once from a piece of Soft Suede card stock. I carefully layered them on top of each other (with tiny dots of Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue between the layers) to achieve the thickness I needed to pop the sled up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added a sweet wreath and bow from the Alpine Sports Thinlits Dies and a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings – together, they make for an adorable Christmas scene, don’t you think?
- Color Combination. I go back-and-forth about the green-and-red combination at Christmas. Sometimes I just love it, and sometimes I wish there were more options. I do love it, though, when other colors are added to the classic combination. The Soft Suede sled really stands out here and the repeated red and green pull from the beautiful patterned paper behind the focal point. If you like this combination of Real Red, Old Olive and Soft Suede as much as I do, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Itty Bitty Greetings Papers: Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper, Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper, Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White, Soft Suede Inks: Real Red Accessories: Alpine Sports Thinlits Dies, Classic Label punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Are you as excited as I am about the Holiday Catalog? I hope so!
Thanks for stopping by today!

The sled is so cute. Like how you added some thinkers with the Soft Suede Card stock.
Thanks, Dianne! The cardstock gave me the exact thickness I needed. I was afraid it would be hard to layer these two pieces, but they came together easily. ❤️
This set is perfect for us up here in Maine. Love it!
Thanks, Dawn! ❤️ You would certainly know how to use these winter sports tools more than this Georgia boy. It’s a great bundle!
Boy . . . you made me very happy that I’m finally getting this bundle. Absolutely adorable and iconic for winter fun!
I was initially hesitant about this bundle, Mary, but I quite like many of the elements. I especially love this sled. Can’t wait to see what you make with it. ❤️
Yep I had an American Flyer just like this! Perfect winter card!
? ? I would love to see pictures of little Linda on her sled! Thanks, my friend!
Brian – I follow your blog daily and am always learning from you, a master paper crafter! Love your humor, too!
A sleigh is pulled by an animal…..a sled is commandeered by the human who is riding it. (I live in Minnesota!)
Thanks so much, Susan! ❤️ Even a cursory search on Google didn’t give me that information (maybe I just looked at pictures and didn’t draw the line). Thanks for your response.
Brian, this card is so fun! Even though I live in California now, Michigan will always be home, and there a sled can bring lots of JOY!
How fun! I’ve lived in Georgia and South Carolina with a short stay in Tennessee. No snowy Christmas memories for me. Thanks, Katrina!
Perfect card…love the plaid. Growing up in Ga, the few times it snowed(which was mostly was slush) we used the garbage can lids to slide down.
Love that memory, too. A trash can lid is such a functional invention! ?
Oh my dear Brian, what a gorgeous card this is!!! Fun too, since the sled reminds me of the fun my grandkids had going down the snow-covered hills during the long and cold Winters up here in NW Indiana.
Beautiful pattern paper and that sled is just to adorable for words.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful Christmas card, my dear.
XO
Thank you so much, Maria, for your lovely comments! There’s something so reminiscent about this sled, huh? Always love to hear from you. ❤️
Oh Brian, Brian, Brian – I had no interest in this set at all until I saw your gorgeous card today. Now it’s on my “have to have it” list! Love that sled!
? Thanks so much, Grace! I’m so glad you like it and am thrilled you have added it to your list. ❤️
ENABLER!! I am obviously not the only one who was initially “meh” about this set–It takes an artist of your caliber to wake up the creative thought process in many of us. Love the plaid and the tip about the layers on the sled. It all comes together so perfectly. Wonderful card!
That’s such a sweet comment, Linda! I appreciate your compliments more than you can know. I’m so happy to share with y’all every day, and it’s comments like this that make me so happy.
Love this super cute card, Brian. I have to rethink this bundle. I agree with Linda that you are an enabler…and I know you love that role! Enjoy your weekend.
Yay! I’m happy to enable – especially with great products like this. Thanks, Hilda! ❤️
Looks pretty much like our old sled. We lived on a hill and there was a park with even bigger hills just in the next block so there was lots of opportunities to use it. But, it was more for my brother – I was so little my mom and dad made him ride with me and of course we would always crash or upset. I said to heck with it, let me go inside and have hot chocolate. Love the card though it reminds me of some bruises I used to get.
Thanks, Chris! Funny that your memories include the bruises. You have a very vivid memory. ❤️
That sled is fantastic! I love layering dies for thickness and strength. As usual, perfect DSP. That diagonal plaid really pops!
Thanks, Sheryl! I just love this plaid – it screams “Christmas!” to me. Glad you like it. <3
