Grateful for Someone Like You

I have wonderful friends, and I love to design cards to thank them. I created this simple card with a mix of old and new stamps to let one of my friends know how much I appreciate her. My simple card pairs a sentiment from Country Home (from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog) with a large flourish from Falling Flowers (from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog). Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Country Home. I was IMMEDIATELY won over by the sentiments in the Country Home stamp set, but it took me a short while to buy into the flowers, jug and pitcher. After a couple of great samples with these images, I’m on the Country Home train! These sentiments are perfect for the Fall months, especially Thanksgiving, as are the images – so many ways to showcase these beauties:  Country Home, Stampin' Up! 147678If you’d like to see all of the products that coordinate with this set in the Country Lane suite, click on the image below:Country Lane Suite, Stampin' Up! 2018 Holiday Catalog, 11020
  • Inspired by the Catalog. The sentiment on my card was inspired by the framed artwork on page 42 of the Holiday Catalog – I love the way the artist lightly stamped the flowers at the base of the long “Simply thankful for all the good things ” panel (you can click on the picture below for a closer look). Here’s a look at the artwork on this page: Country Lane Suite samples, Stampin' Up!Here’s how I translated that idea to the sentiment on my card: Country Home, Falling Flowers, Stampin' Up!, thank you cardI stamped the flowers on Thick Whisper White (after stamping off once on scrap paper) and cropped it with a 2″ Circle Punch. I then stamped the sentiment in the center of the circle. Such a great look!
  • Pair it with the Envelope. I love the simplicity of this card – the face of the card is very simple – but I wanted something to spruce it up a bit. I thought about adding pearls or spritzing texture into the background, but I didn’t really want to change my design – I’m stubborn like that some times. I decided I could accomplish “that little something extra” by adding a Coastal Cabana flap to the envelope with Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – easy accessory.Country Home, Falling Flowers, Stampin' Up!, thank you card

  1. Love this design, Brian. I’m not overly infatuated with the images part of the Country Home stamp set, either, but the way you used one behind the sentiment is perfect. This set is all about the sentiments for me. The flourish on your card is just the right touch, too. ( I’ve been a fan of swirly flourishes since Everything Eleanor! ) What a great project~thanks for the inspiration.

    • Thanks so much, Linda! I’ve come around to the beauty of the jug and pitcher – it just took me a while. The flowers are quite beautiful – glad you like how I used them here. <3

  2. This is a sweet card for your friend. I love the stamped off image under the sentiment and the swirl really gives texture and interest. Great job! Enjoy your day!

  5. Brian I love these sentiments as well. Thanks for reminding me that I can add stamped off image over the sentiment. Love this look.

  6. Pretty! I like the soft touch the stamped off addition gives to the sentiment . I may order this stamp set because it is so different and the cotton is so southern (smile) !!

  7. I have never thought about stamping a saying over a stamped off image! See Brian – you teach me something new every day. I really love the Country Home sets images as well as sayings. So glad to see this set combined with the Falling Flowers set. They so compliment each other. Beautiful card today as always.

  8. Woo hoo! And I can boast that I’m the lucky recipient. Love the sentiment and pretty card!

  9. Just beautiful, Brian. I am so grateful for all the inspiration you share so willingly with all of us. I love this card and the colors are wonderful together. I love the swirl behind the sentiment. Thank you.
