Takeout Treats from Mrs. Claus

It’s really difficult to say “no” to Mrs. Clause – and she really, really wants you to fall in love with the Takeout Treats Bundles. Buried in the Halloween section of Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog, these teeny tiny treat boxes (the finished project is approximately 2-1/8″ x 1-3/4″ x 2″) are perfect for a variety of holidays. I decorated my Poppy Parade treat box with Mrs. Claus, who (I believe) just finished baking the tiny cookies I tucked inside. Here’s my project:

Signs of Santa, Takeout Treats, Takeout Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingTo create this box, I simply ran the large Takeout Thinlits Die through the Big Shot Twice, folded along the scored edges and assembled the box with a little Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Tear & Tape Adhesive. Here’s a look at how this treat container closes on top (just like your favorite takeout food):

Signs of Santa, Takeout Treats, Takeout Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI added a little “Yum!” sentiment behind Mrs. Claus. It’s stamped in Poppy Parade on Thick Whisper White cardstock and cropped it with a tag die from the Takeout Thinlits Dies that were used to make the box. A perfect accent, don’t you think? Here’s a look at the Takeout Treats Bundle I used to create my little box:

Takeout Treats Bundle, Stampin' Up! 149990Over the past week, I shared some of the projects I made with my local club. I also wanted my awesome club members to see how adorable these Takeout Thinlits Dies are, so I designed this project and packed the supplies for each of them to make one. After I finished my Mrs. Claus (I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the Signs of Santa image on Whisper White cardstock before coloring her with a mix of Smoky Slate, Old Olive, Poppy Parade, Petal Pink and Pool party Stampin’ Blends. Boy! That would take forever in club, so…

Santa's Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingThe Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper includes a boatload of images that can be cropped with the Santa’s Signpost Framelits Dies – and many of them come with a playful white flocking on the image. Much easier to just cut Mrs. Claus out. On that one page alone, you can get:

  • 10 Mrs Claus
  • 8 signposts
  • 8 standing elves (Garden Green)
  • 10 walking elves (Poppy Parade)
  • 8 stacks of presents
  • 8 wagons

AND you get TWO pages in each order of this paper. There are more elves and a Santa cutout on a different page. Such fun! Here’s a closer look at the Signs of Santa Bundle:

Signs of Santa Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 149967And here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the coordinating Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper (the first design on the first row and pages 1, 3 & 5 on the second row have white flocking that you’ll want to run your finger over):

Santa's Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 147809The Takeout Thinlits Dies include an isosceles trapezoid (go geometry!) that fits perfectly on the front of this treat box. I cut two from a Poppy Parade polka-dotted paper in the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper to add to the sides. The pieces are too wide for the sides, so I trimmed away at the sides until I arrived at the exact size I wanted. Go geometry!

  6. Oh Brian – You’ve made just the perfect little container to put on every desk in the office for a sweet holiday surprise. I love the idea of putting a smile on the face of every coworker (not necessarily office workers) to start their day. I can picture it for every holiday especially Halloween and Easter. But then you said that nastiest of words – the “G” word! Oh the nights I struggled with that class until I finally realized that to conquer it you couldn’t use common sense, you just had to accept the theorems. Bingo – happy student. LOL I just love the stamp set you used. Beautiful as always.
