It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the projects we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Always a joy! This week we are CASEing one of our founding team members and my bestie from the Down Under, Louise Sharp. What fun!
Here’s a fun photo of Louise and me – we celebrated Stampin’ Up!’s 30th Anniversary in Orlando, Florida together this past weekend:
How cute are we?! My card features two AMAZING sneak peeks at products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog. We left Orlando with many new products – and I couldn’t wait to play. I will balance new with current over the next two months. Here’s my card for this week’s GDP challenge:
And here’s the banner for the challenge to CASE Louise that inspired my card:
When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own. When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Humming Along Bundle. During one of our general sessions at this past week’s OnStage event, all demonstrators in attendance received the Humming Along Stamp set, which coordinates with a set of dies we didn’t receive. If you love hummingbirds or pretty flowers or gorgeous sentiments, then you are going to wan this set! Here’s a look:
There are so many ways to add color and dimension to these images – if you like to watercolor or apply color with Stampin’ Blends, this set is going to make you very happy. There’s a cross-hatch die in this bundle that is a must-have, so I’m happy I’m half-way to collecting this bundle.
- Monochromatic Peek-a-Boo. My card is entirely created with white, black and Grapefruit Grove. Like Louie’s beauty, I kept a low profile on bold colors. While I DO like coloring, I decided to leave this flower white – it really pops against the Grapefruit Grove backdrop. The sentiment, also from Humming Along, is cropped with a 1-3/4″ Circle punch. I wedged the circle into the cropped flower by gluing the petals over the circle and the stem under.
Since I know you’re going to ask – I can’t yet get my hands on the coordinating dies for this set, so I cropped the flower with my Brother Scan-n-Cut. I much prefer the dies over the electronic cutter, but a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do in the meantime.
- Gingham Gala. There’s an entire suite in the upcoming Occasions Catalog dedicated to butterflies and gingham prints. It’s amazing! The Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (#148554) comes in a mix of small (like above) and larger patterns. The papers are offered in five Spring colors that are sure to be on your wish list – Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather and Lemon Lime Twist. You are going to have so much fun with these papers. Here’s a look at the five colors in this incredible pack of papers:
Bundles: Humming Along Stamp Sets: Humming Along Papers: Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Grapefruit Grove, Thick Whisper White Inks: Basic Black Accessories: 1-3/4″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I also hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Adorable. I on the other hand got home from Orlando and was a couch potatoe for the rest of the day. So impressed you put this beautiful card together so quickly.
Thanks, Lynn! I was aching to make something. I dreamed this card up while I napped after returning home – then went back to being a couch potato. <3
Love that gorgeous Grapefruit Grove gingham. What a lovely sneak peek and tribute to Louise’s sketch!
Thanks, Mary! This paper is going to be a huge hit! Such fun to play with! <3
All I can do is laugh about Dale presenting this stamp set…unforgettable! 🙂 I love that you used both the paper and a stamp set that we received in Orlando. And last but not least, I was so happy to meet you at convention Brian…hopefully we’ll meet again some day!!! <3
It was AWESOME to meet you, Dawn! So glad you had a great time at OnStage, too! <3
Gorgeous card, Brian! I love how you left the flower blank. Had a wonderful time at OnStage. I loved the unfrogetatable presentation along with Dale’s!
Thanks, Michelle! I was going to color the flower but liked how it popped with just the outline. Glad to see you in Orlando! <3
As if I didn’t already love this stamp set enough! Perfect matchup with the DP and hummingbird. Great seeing you last week.
I was so happy to see you, too, Dianne! So glad you like the card – easy to make something beautiful with these new products. <3

It was quick and easy – and I wasn’t unpacked, either. <3 Thanks, Frenchie! <3
Love the card and new products, but I’m glad you led with that happy picture of 2 friends! Fabulous!
It’s part of my contract with Louise – I have to lead with an adorable photo of her. 🙂 Such a great time!
I can’t wait to get my hands on some of that Gingham paper and I love the way you showcased it. We used to use Gingham fabric to make a craft called Chicken Scratch by sewing into each check which created an all over floral design. Wish I could explain it better. I’m already thinking about how to create it with card stock. Love your card for today and am excited to hear all about your 30th anniversary “gathering”. SU treats it’s demonstrators that attend amazingly well.
Thanks so much, Grace! The paper is WONDERFUL! Can’t wait to see what you make with it. <3
Brian your card is lovely, for sure on my list! So glad you had a fabulous time, especially meeting new friends and team members.
Thanks, Katrina! So many great, new products headed our way! <3
