Happiness Surrounds for CTS298

This week I’ve enjoyed sharing the memories of my trip to Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 OnStage and a project with some new products I picked up in Orlando. Today I’m going back to some amazing products that are new this month – and that you can buy today. Yay! For this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge, I stamped with Happiness Surrounds and cropped a gorgeous frame with Snowfall Thinlits Dies – two of the items in Stampin’ Up!’s Limited Time Snowflake Showcase release. CTS_298Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Happiness Surrounds. I love Donna’s sketch – I mimicked her pattern with Coastal Cabana strips on a Daffodil Delight base – easy. I really wanted to showcase product from the Snowflake Showcase Limited-Time Release (available in November or while supplies last). I’ve showcased the Snow is Glistening stamp set a couple of times, so I (naturally) reached for the beautiful Happiness Surrounds photopolymer stamp set. The set is the Spring-themed companion to the Christmas set that also coordinates with the dies. Here’s a look at the Happiness Surrounds stamp set:Happiness Surrounds, Stampin' Up!, 149744And here’s a look at the coordinating Snowfall Thinlits Dies – it’s brilliant that the dies can be used for the Holiday s AND Spring:Snowfall Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up!, 149692
  • Sweet Layers. This simple card is made with SEVEN layers of cardstock and three layers of Stampin’ Dimensionals. It’s funny to me how a card can be piled up with cardstock layers but stay clean and classic. I’m OK with this giant die looking like a snowflake (my choice for cropping it in white), but it’s really a classic shape. In a different color, it’s just a beautiful frame for the sentiment.Happiness Surrounds, Snowfall Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI love a white border – especially against bold colors. A white circle frames the 2-1/2″ Circle punch of Fresh Fig. That circle is mimicked around the focal panel of the card.
  • Color Combinations with Mary. I started this card with an unexpected combination of Cajun Craze, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight – it’s a combination I’ve used before and loved very much. I was on the phone with Mary Fish at the time (how cool am I?) and I whined about how harsh the Cajun Craze was. She suggested Crumb Cake, which I use a lot, and offered Fresh Fig as an alternative. If you like this combination of Fresh Fig, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight, save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Fresh Fig, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil DelightHere’s the tip from this experience – when you are stuck, just call Mary Fish. I’ll be happy to send you her phone number if you don’t have it stored in your phone.

  1. Wow! There is nothing like a personal consultation with Mary, who came up with a beautiful color combo. Love the sweet sentiment, too. Enjoy your day!

  2. Look at all those luscious layers. Hmmmm not sure why I always say the word luscious when I refer to layers. Maybe later cake? Anyway, interesting colors and I like them. I love the snowflake and the whole card. Great job with the sketch. You constantly amaze me with your creative ideas.

  3. The color combination is beautiful and I love how you used the snowflake…not as a snowflake, but as a frame…very cool!

  4. Great color combo and perfect use of that snowflake!

  5. Anytime you want snowflakes after tomorrow just let me know Brian and I’ll send you a jar full. Winter snow (snow that needs plowing) is expected to arrive here tonight and tomorrow. I too liked that you used the snowflake as a frame – great thinking on your part. Also, I’m so glad that I bought these sets and my favorite part is the snowflakes cut with the “velvet” paper. It’s truly a wow factor for winter cards.

    • Thanks so much, Grace! I have a suspicion we’ll be getting snow this year – I’ll hold off and wait for it to arrive here. <3 Thanks for the offer, though. So glad you like these dies! <3

  6. Thanks for the tip Brian, we don’t see snowflakes here either, love this idea! Love the Brightness!

  7. Gorgeous card, Brian! And I adore this color combination!

  8. You are beyond naughty – I’m glad I could help and love our daily phone chats about stamping and more. Thanks for offering my assistance and availability by phone – GAH!
I love how the Whisper White snowflake pops off the bright colors, especially Fresh Fig!

    • You asked me to give you credit, so I did. How is that naughty? πŸ™‚ You seem to bring the naughty out of me, Mary. <3 In the meantime, I'm handing out your cell phone number to everyone who asks.

  9. Such a handsome card–I love the non traditional colors! And you may have noticed that you have a new customer πŸ˜‰

  10. Gorgeous color combo! And the snowflake is wonderful in your design!

  11. A Brian King card with a Mary Fish assist…can’t go wrong!

  12. Well Mr. King, you are sooooo coooool chatting with Mary, how fabulous she offered the change in colors, I also think the Cajun Craze would have been a bit strong for this card, glad you changed it to the gorgeous Fresh Fig.
Love your interpretation of the sketch, that beautiful, ginormous snowflake looks just perfect as a frame for your sentiment.
    Awesome card my friend.
    XO
    Maria.
