A Friendly Expression with Little Elephant

If you are looking for a cute way to say “I’m proud of you” then look no further than Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog. I connected the Little Elephant Bundle and Friendly Expressions stamp set in a sweet and simple card. I’m excited to share it with you today. Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge that inspired my card:

FMS378Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sweet Combination. I stamped the little elephant with Pool Party ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock and punched him out with the coordinating Elephant Builder Punch. So cute! I stamped him again and cropped out his ear so I could pop it up, but…it got lost on my craft table (tell me that’s never happened to you). By the time I realized it was missing, I had cleaned and put away my stamp, so…I decided to leave it off. So glad I could confess that to you. Thanks for listening. • Lining Up for a Cute Collage. I stamped the sentiment for this card on the Highland Heather base. I also stamped it on a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock and cropped it right in the middle with a heart from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies. I glued down the heart to match up with the sentiment on the Highland Heather for a seamless sentiment:Little Elephant, Friendly Expressions, Stampin Up!, Brian KIngThe three elements – the elephant and the two hearts – are inspired by the trio of elements on the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. What fun!
  • Cheery Trio. The colors of the big heart and elephant looked so great against the Highland Heather background that I decided to build a backdrop on my card that mimicked the same colors. Part of me wishes I would have balanced out the colors a bit more, but another part of me is happy with how cheery the trio is on my card. 1. Another brilliant combination of multiple stamp sets/dies and a charming color pallet. But what REALLY struck me was the clever manipulation of the sentiment! Just perfect.

  2. Something lost on my craft table? Never….well ok, once in awhile, we’ll really – all the time! Great color combo, as always, and darling card.

    • Tee hee. Thanks, Dianne! They were fun colors to work with – I think Flirty Flamingo is much more of a Subtle than a Bright. I’m happy to hear that you are far more organized and tidy than I am. 🙂

  3. I have to confess……I have lost many elephants ears on my crafting countertops (but that’s just between you and me-OKAY). Simply put…..This card is ADORABLE.

  4. Precious. I adore this bundle and little elephant (even without the popped up ear). I {heart} how you framed out “make!”

  5. What a great color combo, Brian. Love your creativity in having the sentiment in two colors. Just this week I lost the “th” to make “10th” birthday for my great nephew. I diecut “birthday” and dissected the “th” from it. Some do-overs are easy. So I understand completely. Love this adorable card. Enjoy your day!

    • Ha! Thanks, Hilda! It can be so frustrating to lose little pieces, but that’s part of our journey. 🙂 I didn’t realize the ear never made it onto the card until I was taking the picture. Hope your day was wonderful! ♥

  6. Such a sweet card today! Great colors and clever way of doing your sentiment. Nice interpretation of the sketch too!!

  7. Oh my…I love the way you used the little elephant…I just got the stamp set and punch…and love the creative way you used it with the heart .
    thank you so much…

    • Thank you so much, Sheila! I had lots of fun with multiple elephants and layouts. Once I landed on this idea, I was happy. 🙂 Thanks! ♥

  8. Sweet card and awesome stamping over the die cut!

  9. What a fun and pretty color combination! And I love how you worked the sentiment on this card. So glad you joined in at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

  10. Cute card, Brian! I just purchased the Little Elephant set and am glad to see cards designed with it besides baby cards.

  11. An adorable little trio! And what fun colors. Always happy to see you at FMS!

  12. These colors are fabulous together…..sweet sweet sweet!
