I ♥ designing cards, so I don’t always put together Stampin’ Up!’s project kits. I think they’re great – they are great for new stampers or people who just love to sit and make cards. Even if I don’t plan to fully assemble the kits by their instructions, I get most of them – Mom loves to put them together, and I love to pull bits-and-pieces from the kits for cards I want to make. Today is one of those days. Here’s my card with a die-cut panel from the Incredible Like You Project Kit in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog:
- Three Occasions Catalog Products. The die-cut panel on this card is one of many intricate card-front overlays in the Incredible Like You Project Kit. The card bases in this kit “fill in the colors” for these die-cut pieces with gorgeous, printed designs, but I wanted to find a way to color them in myself, so I reached for fresh colors of cardstock to build a fun design. Here’s a look at the Incredible Like You Project Kit:
This kit coordinates with the Incredible Like You stamp set (see it here), which is sold separately. So that’s what I got from the kit that created such a great backdrop. But how about that groovy, fun sentiment? Here’s another look:
The sentiment on this card is from the Beach Happy photopolymer stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog. I love the structure of this sentiment – a fun font with a casual flair. Here’s a look at the Beach Happy stamp set:
The sentiment is framed with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies, a must-have from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog:
- Building a Gorgeous Panel. While the die-cut background from the Incredible Like You Project Kit is cool on it’s own, I wanted to add some vibrant colors to the back to build a custom design. I glued a mix of 3/4″, 1″ and 1-1/4″ circles tot he back of this template in a mix of Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist and Grapefruit Grove. I had to trim some of the circles to fit the template.
The back is kind of a mess – lots of glue showing – but that’s OK. To add a little extra shine to the front of the template, I painted a little glitter into the Daffodil Delight circles with a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. The extra shine really adds something special:
- Cheery Colors. My background was created with citrus colors – Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist and Grapefruit Grove. I wasn’t sure where to go from there – Crumb Cake, Basic Black, or Night of Navy? This template sat on my desk for a week or more. One day, I moved it and randomly set it on a sheet of Highland Heather. That’s it! Just what I needed! If you like this combination of Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist, Grapefruit Grove and Highland Heather, please save this:

I need to hire you to describe my cards, Mary! Thanks so much! So glad you like the colors – I was happy with how they worked together. ♥
this is delightful…..love all the fresh bright colors!
Thanks, Linda! I had fun with these colors – so delightful. ♥
Love it when a happy accident helps us find the answer! Nice move to put Highland Heather with the citrus-y colors. And, of course, Wink of Stella makes everything better!
Thanks so much, Dianne! Sometimes the “pleasant mistakes” are better than anything we planned for. ♥
Ooooh, MY my friend sooo crafty, I love it , perfect colors ♥️
Tfs hugs Frenchie ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thanks so much, Frenchie! ♥♥♥ Always wonderful to hear from you! ♥♥♥
You are incredibly creative, Brian, I love seeing your posts in my email because I know you are going to blow my mind!!
Thanks so much, Sheila! I appreciate that more than you can know. ♥
I love how you made purple the main color so the others ones popped! Thanks for the tips, too! Awesome card!
Purple makes everything pop. ♥
The color combo and the diecut from the kit are awesome. They really make a fun thank you card. Love hearing about your process of letting it sit until the right color popped up. I sleep on lots of cards trying to get the extra little something something for them. Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks so much, Hilda! I “sit on” cards a lot – always have two or three “in process”. ♥
So cheery on a gloomy Georgia day!
Right?! So gloomy this morning. Thanks, Cindie!
LOVE the die-cut panel over the Highland Heather. So fresh and cheery. And don’t even get me started on the ‘Wink of Stella’…..LOVE IT!!!!
Isn’t it wonderful!? Doesn’t always photograph well, but it adds so much to a project. Thanks so much, Kadie!
Love the tropical cheeriness. I haven’t opened this kit yet, but now I’m looking forward to it! Have a great weekend Brian!
I opened mine, and a bunch of glitter fell out. I grabbed these templates and wrapped the bag up. I’m certain I’ll get to the rest of it, but be careful! ♥
I have a little great, great niece who is gaga over any form of the color purple! Her closet is filled with purple. She would be jumping up and down to receive a card like this on her birthday so I am saving this post to remind me of the wonderful color combination you used to create the perfect “Avery” card! LOL Superior job Brian!
Awww…thanks so much, Grace! If you think she’d like a “thanks” card just as much as a “happy birthday” card, I’d be HAPPY to send it to you! ♥
WOW – 40’s and rainy here…. this makes me feel like I’m sitting by a pool with a fruity drink in my hand. your color combo is spectacular. that’s what I love about your work. you challenge me to think outside of the box. my mind would not have paired those colors with highland heather. great job!!!
Thanks so much, Dara! I might not have put these with Highland Heather, either. It was an accident that I “tossed” the panel onto a piece of Highland Heather. 🙂 Thanks!
Well done! Such a fun card with great color! Very fresh!
Thanks so much, Sharon! I really loved playing with these colors. ♥
Beautiful! I love what you did. Adding the Wink of Stella was perfect! You used glitter!!!!
It’s a Brian-approved glitter, Susan. Not messy at all. So glad you like what I did with it. Thanks!
