I have good news – the Spring One-for-One Swap cards have been sorted, photographed and sent out. Yay! That means that those who participated in the swap have started to receive their swap cards from other stampers (we had participants from all over the United States). It also means I’ll soon be sharing all of the swap cards with you – be on the lookout this week. ♥
Along with the swap cards I received, several kind people tucked in a little “thank you” note or card. Not one – I repeat – not one person included a wad of cash. So sad. Today I want to share one of the “thank you” cards I received from my friend, Barbara Moody who lives close to Mom so I get to visit her when I’m home. Here’s a picture of my big mug, Barbara and Michelle Ratliff (from when we crafted together two Christmases ago):
Long story short, I gasped when I opened the little card from Barbara. It’s an adorable 4-1/4″ square card that beautifully showcases the Lilypad Lake Bundle. Here’s a look:
Barbara’s card features six sailboats on a watercolored backdrop that’s just gorgeous. She CASE’d this card from 2018 Artisan Elizabeth Price, who shared a sneak peek of the Lilypad Lake Bundle this time last year. CLICK HERE to see Elizabeth’s Lilypad Lake projects. I can see why Barbara was inspired by Elizabeth’s work.
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Lilypad Lake Bundle. The Lilypad Lake stamp set and coordinating Lakeside Dies are carrying forward into Stampin Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog. Yippee! The bundle of these two (which offers a 10% discount), though, is not. If you like this bundle, be sure to grab it before June 2 so you can take advantage of the bundled savings. Here’s a look at the Lilypad Lake Bundle:
To be sure you’ve collected all the bundles you want (whether retiring or carrying forward), be sure to check out this list of all bundles in my online store.
- Beautiful Texture. There’s such beautiful texture in this simple card. Not only has Barbara embossed the background with a Simple Stripes Embossing Folder (retiring at the end of this catalog or when supplies run out), but the watercolored backdrop on watercolor paper (retiring to be replaced with a new watercolor paper) adds a beautiful splash of textured color. Here’s a closer look:
I love this mix of Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist ink – it provides such a beautiful backdrop for these boats. To achieve this look, Barbara applied ink to the watercolor paper with an aqua painter and water. It takes a little patience and practice to build beautiful, watercolored backgrounds, but it’s worth the effort!
- Two Color Combinations. There are several greens and aquas in Barbara’s card that I love very much. The combination of the watercolored backdrop with the base of the card is a beautiful mix of Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party – such a fresh combination:
The three banners behind the watercolor paper are a beautiful combination of greens – Pear Pizzazz, Mint Macaron and Lemon Lime Twist. What a beautiful progression of colors. If you like them as much as I do, please save this:
Bundles: Lilypad Lake Stamp Sets: Lilypad Lake Papers: Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Lemon Lime Twist, Mint Macaron, Watercolor Paper, Thick Whisper White Inks: Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Gray Accessories: Lakeside Dies, Aqua Painters, Pearl Basic Jewels, Jute Twine, Stampin’ Dimensionals
What do you think? Don’t you love the serenity of this card? I love it’s simplicity and the gorgeous colors she used.
Thanks for stopping by today!

What an absolutely beautiful and delightful card, Brian!! Ohh!! how I love Barbara’s gorgeous watercolor wash as a backdrop for this cute little sailboats. I’m really working on trying to master this technique, I hope one of these days I’ll be brave enough to share a card with a watercolor wash almost as pretty as the one on Barbara’s card.
Thank you for sharing both the card and that sweet picture of you guys.
Hugs.
Watercoloring like this is a little out of my wheelhouse, too, Maria, but it’s easy once you get a hold of it. Just practice a little, and I’m sure you’ll master it. ♥
I love Barbara’s cute card with the color combos and her great watercolor background. It all makes a stunning card. Thanks, Brian, for sharing it and the fun picture. Enjoy your day!

Bummer about the cash….the wad I enclosed with my swap card must have fallen out in the mail.
Gah! I hate to think about all that cash just floating around in some random mail room. Thanks for thinking of me, Brenda! ♥
Barbara’s card is FANTASTIC. Her water coloring skills are AWESOME. Sorry you didn’t receive any cash with your swap cards…….There’s always next time my friend. Thanks for sharing.
