Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.
Welcome to InKing Royalty’s May Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word – and this month our projects are centered around REMEMBER. This word can mean different things to different people – fond memories, respectful tributes, special occasions that we’ll never forget. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
I Forgot to Remember Your Birthday
I’m not very good at remembering birthdays. With so many distractions in the world, I tend to find out that I’ve missed an important birthday when that person generates their “thanks for all the kind birthday wishes” post on their Facebook page. Argh! When you miss a big birthday, though, you have to make up for it with a big-and-over-the-top Happy Belated Birthday card. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Carrying Over (Kind of). My card features a fun sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set and a cool party hat that’s is stamped and cropped from the Broadway Birthday Bundle. The Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set (which debuted in the 2019 Occasions Catalog) is carrying over into Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog, and I couldn’t be happier. Here’s a look at Itty Bitty Birthdays:While the Broadway Birthday stamp set and the Broadway Lights Dies will be carrying from the 2018 Annual Catalog into the 2019 Annual Catalog, the bundle of the two will not. That means you only have a short time to buy both at a 10% savings. Who doesn’t love that?! Here’s a look at he Broadway Birthday Bundle:
- Party Hats. The 4-1/2″ x 2-3/4″ panel on this card is covered with festive party hats. Even though I forgot your birthday, there’s still a party to be had. I alternated between three colors of hats (Balmy Blue, Poppy Parade and Crushed Curry) on a backdrop of Mossy Meadow. To broaden the sentiment without covering up all the party hats, I added a 2-1/4″ circle of Vellum Cardstock behind the sentiment. What a great way to add volume to a card without taking away from the pattern or backdrop!
- Remembering in a Retro Color Scheme. I built my card with a quartet of colors that remind me of a 1970’s kitchen – Balmy Blue, Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow. While I certainly don’t expect the recipient of the card to see the connection, I wanted to pull colors together from a time gone by. They are certainly still great colors today (these are some of my favorites), but together they are very reminiscent of the past. If you like this combination of Balmy Blue, Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow, please save this:
Bundles: Broadway Birthday Bundle Stamp Sets: Broadway Birthday, Itty Bitty Birthdays Papers: Balmy Blue, Poppy Parade, Mossy Meadow, Vellum Cardstock, Whisper White Inks: Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry, Balmy Blue, Basic Black Accessories: Broadway Lights Dies, 1-1/2″ Circle Punch, Layering Circle Dies, 2-1/2″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Product Shares
I posted my 2019 Annual Catalog Product Shares this weekend – and I’d love for you to check them out. What a great way to “kick the tires” on all the wonderful, new papers, ribbons and embellishments in the new catalog!
This is a great birthday card! I love the colors and the many party hats.
Thanks so much, Jackie! It was a fun card to make – had fun with these hats. ♥
Such an adorable card, Brian! I love how you used the party ? hats ?
Thanks, Suzie! They really make the party fun, huh? ♥
Why do i never think to do that with vellum. Such a great ad but not overpowering. Love it.
Thanks so much, Lynn! I knew I needed something more there but didn’t want to cover up all my party hats. Vellum to the rescue! Glad you like it! ♥
Love the way you used the party hats! I, personally, should just make Belated Birthday cards and love the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set for that reason alone! Can’t wait to see the rest of the hop, I know there will be some great inspiration.
Thanks so much, Dianne! I don’t always reach for party hats, but I really had fun with these. The rest of the hop is wonderful! ♥
Such a fun card, Brian!
Thanks, Dawn! 🙂
That sure is a “Big or Go Home” kind of birthday card my friend.
Yay! Thanks so much, Kadie! That makes me so happy! ♥
Good intentions paving the way…I, too, should make a pile of belated birthday greetings cards. That stack would probably dwindle faster than my stash of regular birthday cards!
Love the colors you chose for your fabulous card and the velum is the perfect spotlight.
Great hop this month. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Thanks so much, Lin! I had a lot of fun with this once I settled on an approach to the theme. So glad you like it! ♥
BK . . . I love the theme of the hop and adore all your little hats for the belated birthday. Brilliant!
Thanks so much, Mary! The hats were fun to play with. ♥
Wonderful card! The colors are fabulous. And layering the sentiment on the vellum is the perfect touch!
Thanks so much, Susan! I needed something more in the middle of the panel but didn’t want to cover up all of the fun hats. Glad you like it! ♥
Brian you mentioned you finally settled on these colors, so glad you did.
I guess I don’t play long enough with colors, never would have thought to put Balmy blue with these colors….and I love it! The hats are so cute and they shout party and fun!
Thanks so much, Katrina! I didn’t write this above, but I needed a blue that would keep this card from going “Christmas-y”. Balmy Blue was an obvious choice to me, and I was happy with how it worked. Thanks!
What a happy, happy, happy card today Brian. I just love it. Good to be back home and trying to play catch up.
I’m so glad you are back, Grace! Always nice to hear from you. Thanks! ♥
Well how fun is this card?!? Love it! Always an honor to hop with you, my friend!
Let’s hop every day, Julie! 🙂 Thanks so much, my friend! ♥
Awesome way to make your own DSP! Love the bright colors on black! Genuis card!
Thanks so much, Windy!

Thanks so much, Pam! I am so happy with how these colors came together – glad you like them, too! Thanks for participating in the hop – it’s a good one! ♥
Love all the bright colors! Great card for Kids too.
Thanks so much, Tilly! They were fun colors to play with. ♥
Cute cute cute !!! The hats are clever in that you used a bunch ! I also agree with every one that your vellum idea/solution is perfect .
I went on the BLOG HOP and really enjoyed reading all the references to REMEMBER !!! Fun !
Thanks so much, Sonny! I didn’t know where this design would take me so I had several more hats of each color left on the table when I was done. I guess I overshot my hat production. The hop was pretty great, huh? Thanks! ♥
What a great way to play with the theme! You’re card is awesome and so are you!
Thanks so much, Robin! Back at you, my friend! ♥
Great card Brian
