Cow’s It Going? – Over the Moon for CTS330

I’ve had a cow sitting on my craft table for two weeks, just waiting for the right time to use her. I stamped the cow on Thick Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and set it aside to dry so I’d have it when I wanted it. The moment I sat down to create my card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge, I knew she’d finally come to life. Here’s my card:

CTS330Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Over the Moon. How can you NOT be over the moon for the adorable cows in Over the Moon? A lot of people say they don’t “do cutesy,” but anyone would excuse for wanting to create a card with these bovine. Be sure to read all the sentiments – I’m often skeptical of corny sayings, but these are pretty great. Here’s a look at the Over the Moon Stamp Set:Over the Moon, Stampin' Up! 149331The “I Love You” sentiment I gave my cow is from an unexpected stamp set – but the sentiment is crisp and clean – you’ll find it hidden in the beautiful script and vintage images of Woven Heirlooms:Woven Heirlooms, Stampin' Up!, 149306
  • Simple Coloring. It didn’t take much to bring this sweet cow to life. I colored her with a mix of Smoky Slate and Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. Her nose is a mix of Ivory and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. I colored her boots with Pineapple Punch, repeating that color in the center of the flower and again on the sentiment banner. The flower petals are colored with Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blend. Isn’t she adorable?!Over the Moon, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Balancing Brightness. My cow is colored with a lot of grays and browns, so I made sure the flower and rain boots really popped – that task is made easy with vibrant colors like Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch. My original design featured a Pineapple Punch panel behind the ovals, but it was over-the-top bright, so I switched it out for my favorite standby, Pool Party.
