Be Inspired: Embossing

It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!

For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop, we are sharing fun ideas that showcase embossing – projects showcase heat embossing, dry embossing or textured embossing. Since I like to “go against the grain” every once in a while, I decided to NOT emboss. Instead, I’m sharing a fun technique I love – faux embossing. If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the amazing project shared by my talented Canadian friend Cathy Caines.

Here’s my not-embossed (but looks embossed) card for this Be Inspired Blog Hop:

Greatest Part of Christmas Host Set, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, faux embossing

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Faux Embossing. I created a background for my card by punching a forest of Christmas Trees with the Pine Tree Punch. I punched the tree from Mossy Meadow Cardstock and glued them to a base of Mossy Meadow. After I was done, I ran the panel through my die cutting machine with a clean plate to further flatten the punched trees to the background. •  A Gorgeous Sentiment. There’s no way missed the big, bold, gorgeous sentiment on the front of my card. It’s such a beauty that you may have overlooked the faux embossed tree background. I stamped this sentiment on Whisper White cardstock with Real Red ink and cropped it with one of the long, slender dies in the Stitched Rectangles Dies – a perfect fit!Greatest Part of Christmas Host Set, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, faux embossingThe sentiment is from the Greatest Part of Christmas Host stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog. While this set was not available to demonstrators during August’s pre-order period, I received the set as a prize during the Greek Isles Incentive Trip. You already know how much I love sentiments, so you can imagine how happy I was to receive this set. • A Merry Color Combination. I’ve always loved Real Red and Mossy Meadow with Crumb Cake – such a gorgeous color combination that’s perfect for Christmas. For this card, I gave Smoky Slate a shot at the spotlight, and it didn’t disappoint. This light gray almost looks like silver and provides a beautiful backdrop to these traditional Christmas colors. What do you think? If you love this mix of Smoky Slate, Real Red and Mossy Meadow as much as I do, please save this for future reference:Stampin' Up!
