Eat, Drink and be Scary for the Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop

I’m excited to be a part of today’s Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop. Paper Adventures is Kelly Kent’s Stampin’ Up! team in Australia – and this month they are sharing projects with a “Trick or Treat” theme. What fun! Australians don’t “do” Halloween like we do in The United States, so I feel a lot of pressure to represent Halloween well.

My Halloween-themed project features the bundle that I named my Favorite Bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog – the Cup of Christmas Bundle. With an image from the Wonderfully Wicked stamp set and a sentiment from the Spooktacular Bash stamp set, I had what I needed for a fun Halloween project.

Here’s my card for the Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Unexpected for Halloween. If you had to name a stamp set that was perfect for Halloween, there’s little chance you’d call it Cup of Christmas. Still, it’s the Cup of Christmas stamp set (and coordinating Cup of Cheer Dies) that I used to make this oh-so-spooky set of festive mugs. Here’s a look at the Cup of Christmas Bundle:Cup of Christmas Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 153025I stamped the outline image with black ink on Mango Melody cardstock and cropped it with the coordinating mug die to create the mug on the right. To build the mug on the left, I stamped the polka dot mug with black ink on Mango Melody cardstock and cropped it with the other mug die. Here’s what’s REALLY COOL: The polka dot mug stamp and striped mug stamp are reversible, so they can be used to make a mug with a handle on the right or a mug with a handle on the left. I love the versatility of the reversibility. ♥
  • Big Spider. It’s not a spooky mug without a big spider! After I cropped out the mug on the right, I added a spider from Wickedly Wonderful stamp set – there’s such a great collection of scary animals (with artistic flair) in this set – a spider, a cat and a bat. • Classic Halloween Color Combination. Most Halloween projects pull in Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black. My Mugs and card base are a brighter, friendlier version of orange – Mango Melody. I added a fun panel of Gorgeous Grape behind the cups that’s cropped from the Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – the stitched design almost looks like a spider web in the background, don’t you think?
