Peaceful Boughs for CTS349

There’s a gorgeous bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog that I love very much but that I haven’t opened until I sat down to make today’s card. What a shame! The good news – it’s so gorgeous and popular that you’ve already seen it and likely already own it, so you aren’t missing out on anything. Phew! Here’s my card that features a spray of boughs and a gorgeous sentiment from the Peaceful Boughs Bundle:

CTS349Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Peaceful Boughs Bundle. Do you love a beautiful pine branch at Christmas? Such a beautiful image in nature or when brought inside for a Christmastime decoration! Whether it’s a branch of a tree or in the form of a wreath or some other decorative arrangement, pine boughs are such a familiar and beautiful thing this for the holidays. Here’s a look at the Peaceful Boughs Bundle:  Peaceful Boughs Bundle, Stampin' Up! 153033The gorgeous sentiment I used on the front of this card (from the Peaceful Boughs stamp set) is a real beauty with a lovely sentiment – “May the spirit of peace gently fill your heart and home in this most wonderful time of year.” I love it!
  • Layering and Adding Texture. After I cropped these pine branches with Shaded Spruce cardstock and layered them on my card, I was missing a little something. I wanted more texture or color – and I certainly wasn’t going to add more branches. That’s when it hit me – if I just sponged a little White Craft Ink on the branches, I could give the look of snow without overpowering the softness of the leaves. With a quarter of a Stampin’ Sponge, I added slow-drying White Craft Ink to the boughs and let them dry overnight. Peaceful Boughs, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Christmas card
  • Color Combination. The colors I showcased on this card are pulled right from the Wrapped in Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper – a gorgeous mix of Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy and Shaded Spruce. While the paper I chose for the band across the bottom of the card only showcases Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce, I knew a backdrop of Night of Navy would be gorgeous.
