A Day for New Beginnings with the Power of Hope Bundle

Yesterday is the first day I’ve not shared a project as a member of the Global Design Project when one of their challenges goes live. I’ve decided to step back from this amazing team despite my love for each of these team members and my love of the challenges. In fact, today I’m sharing a project I made with this week’s sketch challenge. It wasn’t until I sat down to write this post that I recognized the timeliness of the “today is a day for new beginnings” sentiment. Here’s my notecard-sized card (the base is 3-1/2″ x 10″, scored at 5″):

Power of Hope Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian King

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:  GDP222Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Power of Hope Bundle. My card features an image and sentiment from the Power of Hope stamp set and a gorgeous, textured background with the Stone 3D Embossing Folder. Together, these two products create the Power of Hope Bundle that can be selected for free with a $100 order during Sale-a-Bration. Here’s a look at this gorgeous bundle:Power of Hope Bundle, Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up! 152318To see all the items that can be selected with a $50 order (level 1 products), click on the picture below:  Free Level One products, Sale-a-BrationTo see all the items that can be selected with a $100 order (level 2 products), click on the picture below:  Free Level Two products, Sale-a-Bration
  • Paper Lanterns. Paper lanterns are delicate beacons of light that are hung during various celebrations in the Chinese culture. During celebration of the Chinese New Year, the paper lanterns can symbolize good luck and new beginnings. The soft, Spring colors I used for these lanterns, though, could be seen anywhere across the world.  I stamped these tiny lanterns with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Stampin’ Blends (Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie).Power of Hope Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHow gorgeous is the background texture from the Stone 3D Embossing Folder? I absolutely love it! I also added a little texture to the Daffodil Delight band across my card front by stamping the tree from the Power of Hope stamp set with Daffodil Delight ink that I stamped off on scrap paper once before stamping onto the Daffodil Delight cardstock. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference.
  • Bright Color Combination. While the three colors I used in this card are from three different color families (Daffodil Delight is a Bright, Pumpkin Pie is a Regal and Pool Party is a Subtle), they sure do come together to make a cheery & bright combination that I love very much. If you like this mix of yellow, orange and blue as much as I do, please save this for future reference: Stampin Up! Color Inspiration: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Pool Party
