Welcome with In the Tropics Dies

The last time I showcased the In the Tropics Dies, my card featured small pineapples – and today’s card features one large pineapple. Both cards are “welcome” cards, and both are absolutely adorable (if you ask me). Here’s my card:

In the Tropics Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • In the Tropics Dies. The In The Tropics Dies are part of the Timeless Tropical Bundle. While some of the dies crop out images in the stamp set, others stand alone (while still coordinating with the theme of the set). Here’s a look at the Timeless Tropical Bundle:Timeless Tropical Bundle, Stampin' Up! 153811And here’s another pineapple card I made with these dies – the pineapples on this card are from the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper (you can click on the photo below to read my original post for this card): Well Said, In the Tropics Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • A Little Texture. This simple card has so many great elements of texture – love that! Here are some of the ways I added texture:
    • Before cropping the base of the pineapple with the In the Tropics Dies, I stamped the “watercolor splotch” from Label Me Bold in Daffodil Delight ink on Daffodil Delight cardstock. That added a little extra flair to the detailed design of the dies. Label Me Bold, Stampin' Up! 151631
    • The pineapple stem are cropped with Pear Pizzazz cardstock. The leaves have cutouts in the center that don’t cut all the way out. Instead, you can bend them a little bit for a little 3D action. ♥
    • While there is a similar background paper in the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, I pulled this background piece from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper in the Annual Catalog. You want to run your fingers over it, don’t you?
  • Color Combination. The heart is cropped with the Stitched Be Mine Dies and layered with a sentiment from Well Said. I love the sweet color combination created with the colors from the pineapple and sweet heart, don’t you? If you like this mix of Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz and Flirty Flamingo, please save this for future reference: Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Flirty Flamingo

  1. the heart is the perfect touch of pineapple love!

  2. Brian, you chose the perfect background paper!

  3. You know I love all the pineapples! Sweet cards! I have a pineapple card coming later this week!

  4. Love both these cards and the bright color combination. I love dies that do most of the work. Have a great day!

  5. I’m so glad I bought this set Brian. It really is beautiful and much more adaptive to many occasions then I first thought. As a result, I’ll be using it a lot more then I had anticipated. My daughter brought my new computer up to Maine, set it up and took care of all the little quirks during the installation of programs so now I won’t miss any of your daily blogs anymore. Yeah for Toni-Lynn!
