Welcome with Tropical Oasis

There are two reasons I’m excited to share today’s card – (1) it showcases some incredible, new products from Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2020 Mini Catalog and (2) it showcases the Well Said stamp set and Well Written Dies that are part of my Big Blog Candy Giveaway that’s going on right now. The card is a simple 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card to welcome a new guest who’s coming to stay with us. Here’s my card:

Well Said, In the Tropics Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Tropical Oasis. Did you know that pineapples are a symbol of hospitality? When merchant ships would head out on week-long and month-long journeys (often to the Caribbean islands), the captain would come home with a pineapple and spear it on his front gate to let the neighbors know he and his crew had made it home safely. The pineapple was an invitation for people to come visit. Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper features flowers, leaves, pineapples and textures that perfectly capture the tropics. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper:Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 151252 I used the In the Tropics Dies (part of the Timeless Tropical Bundle) to build this sweet flower and the supporting greenery – a perfect accent for the pineapples and “welcome” sentiment. • Brian’s Big Blog Candy Giveaway. Here’s a closer look at the sweet-and-simple arrangement I created on the front of my card with the In the Tropics Dies (I used Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Poppy Parade and So Saffron cardstock to make this tropical delight):Well Said, In the Tropics Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingThe cropped “welcome” sentiment and stamped “so happy you’re here” are from the Well Said stamp set and coordinating Well Written Dies. I love these products so much! • Soothing Color Combination. I love the soothing, tropical colors in the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper – such beauties! For the base and layers of my card, I pulled So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede right out of the papers. 1. One of my favorite things from 2019 was getting together with my High school friends during the holidays…we’re older, grayer, and have more aches and pains than we did almost 40 years ago, but we love getting together to laugh and celebrate our many years of friendship!

  2. Sweet card.

Another favorite thing in 2019 was being able to attend the ALL STAR HOMERUN DERBY and Celebrity baseball game in Cleveland. We had standing room only tix for the celebrity game and ended up in a Suite!! So fun!!

  3. Traveling to visit beautiful Gibbs Garden in Georgia and bringing Paper Pumpkin kits to play with when relaxing. Love the portability and all inclusive little boxes of fun.

  4. One of my favorite things of 2019 was taking a few short trips on our Honda trike. Usually it’s a eating place destination kind of trip. ;).

  5. A second piece of happiness in 2019 was a daughter-in-law. My middle son gifted me with a delightful one in March!

  6. perfect sentiment and pineapple party for a welcome card!

  7. Fantastic way to let the DSP do all the talking. Great card my friend.

  8. One of my favorite things about 2019 was our motorcycle trip to the UP. Such fun!

    • Another favorite 2019 thing was getting to see my two Grandkids play in their Soccer and Baseball tournaments in Anchorage.

  9. My favorite thing was my recent trip to the Galápagos Islands to see the animals that live no where else in the the world! Who can’t love a Blue Footed Booby! But I never knew there were also Red Footed Boobies!

  10. Beautiful cards and love the colors.

  11. Getting together twice a month with a special group of friends to make cards. We work (or play) for a couple of hours, have great conversation and then go to lunch.
Everyone has their own style just like all of our personalities are unique.

  12. What a super way to welcome a guest Brian. The card is just gorgeous. I had passed right by this set in the catty but now I know it’s going to be a must have. What a lucky person your guest will be. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year to you and yours.

    • Thank you so much, Grace! I really had fun with this card. The papers are gorgeous and the dies are a must-have. I didn’t use the stamp set here, but it’s quite wonderful, too. Thanks so much, my friend! All the best to you and yours! ♥

  13. Family and friends

  14. I look at the catalog and I miss so much and then you highlight it and I am like oh wow how did I miss that lol. You are very gifted and I love that you share your talent daily. Beautiful card and a sweet story about the pineapple.

    • Thanks so much, Liz! I’m so glad you like it. I grew up in Charleston with pineapples everywhere and knew it was a symbol of hospitality. Didn’t know why until I left and came back for a city tour. Makes sense. I’m glad you like the card and always appreciate your kind words.

  15. Now that is my kind of background…in love! If I zip up there and stay with you and Jeremiah, do I get to have this card?

  16. Charming card, and an even more charming reason for its creation. You are a true Southern Gentleman.
My favorite thing about 2019 is that a very good friend was declared cancer-free after a 2year battle. May 2020 boast the same for others.

  17. A favorite thing in 2019 was a cousins reunion which we do every other year. Great to catch up on everyone from all over the US. It was fun to gift our hostess with a collection of handmade cards.

  18. 2019 has been a rough year for me, but the loving concern of my family and friends remind me that brighter days are ahead.

  19. 2019 was good as I got to spend time with my son and his family, always such fun…can’t wait for 2020 and what it brings.

  20. Wow, Brian I learned something new about the pineapple, good to know, thank you! Lovely card.

  21. One of the best things that happened to me in 2019…I got to meet some long time “pen-pals” in person. We started communicating online about 10 years ago, over our shared love of poodles. Last April, we gathered together from all parts of the US and Canada for a weekend of friendship and laughs, and a lot of poodle snuggles.

  22. Gorgeous card! The design, colors and really everything is just perfect. I love the idea of a welcome card for guests. Thank you for sharing this!
