Hello Friend with Seriously the Best

I’ve been itching to cut into the gorgeous panel of hibiscuses in the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper. Now that we have made it through Valentine’s Day (I hope your day was wonderful!), I have the perfect opportunity. The sketch challenge that kicks off this week at FabFriday gave me great inspiration for a simple, layered card. Here’s my card:

Seriously the Best, Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s the banner for the FabFriday challenge that inspired my card:

FabFri183Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Seriously the Best. The “hello friend” sentiment on the front of my card is seriously the best – no, seriously – it’s from Seriously the Best. I love the font used for this great variety of sentiments – so many great words for the front of so many cards. Here’s a look at the Seriously the Best stamp set:  Seriously the Best, Stampin' Up! 151712The set is perfectly wonderful on its own, but it also coordinates with a lovely project kit. Here’s a look at how this stamp set plays with the Seriously the Best Project Kit:Seriously the Best Project Kit, Stampin' Up! 151307
  • Tropical Oasis. The sentiment is stamped on Old Olive cardstock and cropped with Layering Circles Dies. I layered a larger circle (also with the Layering Circles Dies) of Vellum Cardstock beneath the circle for an added layer and a soft peek-through to the gorgeous Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper behind it. Here’s a closer look at the layering on this card:Seriously the Best, Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s a closer look at the patterns and colors in the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper:Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 151252If you’d like a closer look at each of the patterns in this paper, CLICK HERE.
  • Color Combination. During another time of year, this mix of Real Red and Old Olive would make for a beautiful Christmas card. With gorgeous flowers and palm fronds, though, these colors take on a gorgeous, Summer feel. If you want to stay inspired my this mix of Real Red, Old Olive and Basic Black all year, please save this:Stampin Up! Color Inspiration: Real Red, Old Olive, Basic Black

Stamp Sets: Seriously the Best  Papers: Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper, Basic Black, Old Olive, Real Red, Vellum Cardstock  Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black  Accessories: Layering Circles Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

    • Gorgeous, gorgeous! Using black with this print really makes this card come alive. Love how the bold black sentiment coordinates with the base. I’d never have thought about black with this print, but it definitely works.

      Well done!
