Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.
Welcome to InKing Royalty’s May Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Sunshine, so prepare yourself for projects that are filled with sunny images of joy in the great outdoors. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
Celebrate You
For today’s sunshine-themed hop, I’m celebrating with a burst of sun rays on a sweet tag that can double as a bookmark. Without intending to, I combined five retiring products (can you name all of them?) on a tag that oozes with happiness – don’t you think? Here’s my project for today’s hop:
My project was inspired a sample in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog. The sample builds a cute banner for a little bag. I’ve looked at this sample over and over this year, amazed by the fun idea. Today I recreated it in my own vision. Here’s a look at the sample from the catalog:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Three Retiring. My sweet tag features five retiring products that are must-haves for any craft room. These products will be fully retired on June 2 or when supplies run out, so act now if any of these items tickle your fancy. ♥ Here’s a look at the Bonanza Buddies Bundle, a super-cute bundle with the incredibly versatile Bonanza Dies:
This is my second project this week featuring the Starburst Punch, which I love so very much. Here’s a look at this punch:
I added three little stars to the tag using the Twinkle Builder Punch – love this punch. I’ve used the moon a couple of times, but I mostly love the variety of stars:
The 2019-2021 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and the Solid White Baker’s Twine are also retiring on June 2 or when supplies run out.
- A Starburst Inside a Starburst. I was so mesmerized by the fun sample in the catalog – the idea of building a starburst inside the starburst punch made me roll up my sleeves and create one of my very own…a full year after I first saw it. Here’s how I did it:
I punched a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock with my Starburst Punch and drew a circle in the lower section of the circle. I snipped along the edges of the starburst toward the circle to create cutouts in the pattern. I then punched a piece of Thick Whisper White with the Starburst Punch and layered the yellow piece over top. It’s a little messy looking, but I knew I’d be covering up my dot and the places where the patterns meet. Here’s a closer look at the finished starburst:
- Color Combination. I love the mix of bright and regal tones on this tag. They really look like a celebration to me. I tried to balance the red on the tag to bring focus to all the right places. If you like this mix of Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Pretty Peacock as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
Stamp Sets: Itty Bitty Birthdays Papers: 2019-2021 In Colors 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Pretty Peacock, Real Red, Daffodil Delight,Thick Whisper White Inks: Pretty Peacock Accessories: Bonanza Dies, Starburst Punch, Twinkle Builder Punch, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine, Stampin’ Dimensionals

This is so cute! I love the little sunshine technique but especially the finished product.
Thank you so much, Jackie! I’m sorry I didn’t try this sooner – I, too, love the technique. Appreciate your kind words. ♥
Creative fireworks! Great job and thanks for sharing that exciting starburst!
🙂 Thanks, Mary! The catalog gave a brief description, but it was fun to figure out the rest. Glad you like it!
Brilliant! The starburst will definitely show up on one of my projects. LOL.
I would love to see it! Thanks, Ann! ♥
This is a very cute tag. Love the color combo and your clever use of punches. Enjoy your day!
Thank you so much, Hilda! I really had a grand time with this little project. 🙂 I always appreciate your kindness. ♥
Love the starburst and now I’m sad the punch is retiring. WhT a great technique
It’s pretty cool, isn’t it? I’m sad to see it go, too. I’ve used it a lot (but not like this). Thanks, Lynn!
What a adorable little tag!! I love the bright and happy red and yellow on the more cool teal of Pretty Peacock.
Thank you so much, Jennifer! I am so in love with Pretty Peacock and am happy with how it pairs here. So glad you like the tag.
WOW my friend. That is one AWESOME tag.
🙂 Thank you so much, Kadie! ♥
This tag definitely oozes happiness and shouts sunshine. I am going to miss the starburst punch, and I love the starburst within a starburst technique. As always, your precise work results in a perfect project. Lovely!
Thank you so much, Linda! I will miss this punch, too, and was so glad to be able to share this technique before it goes away. So glad you liked it!
What a happy tag! Love the colors and your sunburst!
🙂 Thank you so much, Windy! I really had fun with it. ♥
I love how this turned out! So bright and happy!
Thank you so much, Linda! It was designed for someone like you – or maybe just you. ♥
Love what you did with that punch Brian and your blog hop was so much fun!!!! It’s always exciting to see how each stamper interprets the challenge. Thanks for sharing, I so enjoyed it.
Thank you so much, Grace! So glad you like my project, but I’m thrilled that you enjoyed hopping through the other projects. I’m always so excited to see them, too! ♥
This tag is great! Brilliant way to create the sun’s rays!
Super fun project ! I think it is a twist on color trios that you went with the Peacock instead of one of the traditional blues (Pacific Point or Night Of Navy ) because of the stars and sunburst kinda like a 4th of July trend .
I like it ! Plus I guess I had better order that Twinkle Punch (been thinking about it ) before it is too late and it goes off to wherever discarded punches go !!!
Thank you so much, Sonny! I always love to hear from you – and you right. This color combination is very close to the one I used for my Memorial Day project (Real Red, Crushed Curry and Blueberry Bushel). I just love Pretty Peacock so much! You won’t regret having those sweet stars. ♥
Love that sunburst! The layers are fabulous, the stars are the perfect touch.
Thanks, Sheryl! It was certainly a fun project to put together – so glad you like it. ♥
I love how you made the sunburst! Now I’m gonna have to try it. (Thanks?)
It’s pretty cool, huh? Thanks, Candy! You’ll love it.
Brilliant sun! How did I miss this in the catty? I will try this for sure. Love the card and the hop today!!! Xo
Thanks so much, Pam! It was a fun project – I’m grateful for the inspiration from the catalog. You’ll have fun with it! ♥
What a clever project and great take on the catalog version! Your sunburst is fabulous!
Thank you so much, Robin! It was a fun tag to make. So glad you like it. ♥
Love this gift tag! And what a fun technique! I’m going to have to try it!
Thanks, Julie! I can’t believe I waited an entire year to give it a try. ♥
