HELLO with Playful Alphabet Dies

Sometimes you want to make a card that just says, “HELLO.” And sometime you don’t want to mess with inks and try creating a fun card with just paper, dies and adhesive. And sometimes you want to play around with the new dies you picked up from Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog for the second time this week because they are just THAT cool. Here’s my card:

Playful Alphabet Dies, Playing with Patterns, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Playful Alphabet Dies. I’m absolutely in love with the Playful Alphabet Dies – they are a fun, modern font and just the exact right size for cards or scrapbook pages. You can use the letters to create any words you want – my mind is racing with the possibilities! Playful Alphabet Dies, Stampin Up! 152706The set of 58 dies is only $38! How incredible is that?! The dies include duplicate letters (A, E, I, L, N, O, P, R, S, T). Since there are two L’s in my word and two L’s in the set of dies, I only had to pass my word through my die cutting machine one with cardstock and once with the Foam Adhesive Sheets.  Yay for saving time!
  • Foam Adhesive Sheets. Did you notice that my letters and heart are standing up off the card front? Of course you did (you are very observant). That’s not a bunch of snipped dimensional pieces – and my cutouts are perfectly supported by the foam adhesive. Love! I was pessimistically certain these tiny dies would not cut through the foam adhesive sheets. Alas, they did i like a hot knife through butter! • Unlikely Color Combination. Never in a million years would I have paired Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral, but there’s something so shockingly gorgeous about the combination. I’m so grateful that Stampin’ Up! put them together in the Playing with Patterns 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – what great inspiration! 1. Such a bright happy card ! The dimension on the letters looks great!

  2. Love having doubles on some letters in this set . Also using the added dimension makes a great focal point ! The color combo that you used of Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral are different (not so sure about the SHOCKINGLY GORGEOUS description) and I might just give them a try .
Probably a good combo for summer cards !!
    Cute cute card !

    • I stand by my SHOCKINGLY GORGEOUS description, Sonny. 🙂 If you had described the combination (but not let me see it), I would have suspected it would be a terrible look. I hope you do give it a try! You’re right – it’s a perfect summer combination.

  3. Cute card, Brian. I love using foam sheets as you did. It’s easy, fun, and makes a statement. Enjoy your day!

  4. Ok, question…Did you put the card stock on the foams sheets before die cutting them out? Or did you cut them out separately and then adhere them together?

    • Great question, Judy! I ran the dies through with the foam adhesive sheets and then with the cardstock. It was easy to place the cardstock on to the foam adhesive after-the-fact. They were so fun to play with.

  5. Great perfect spacing of the letters again. I have tried but they are always off somehow. Yes, I start in the middle. Your perfect placing always amazes me. Strange but I never noticed the foam sheets. I take it they are sticky on both sides? Good question Judy asked………..I’d like to know also. They would certainly save me a lot of time. Thanks for sharing Brian.

    • Thanks, Grace! The Foam Adhesive Sheets are new in this catalog – and they are wonderful. I ran the dies through with the foam adhesive sheets and then with the cardstock. It was easy to place the cardstock on to the foam adhesive after-the-fact. So easy! I used tweezers to perfectly place the letters on the sheets and then onto the strip on the card front. Much easier to get them down vs. with glue. You will love these, Grace!

  6. The Foam Adhesive Sheets work GREAT on these little letters.

  7. Thanks for showing us these foam sheets in action! Sweet card!

  8. I knew I forgot something on my last order, the foam Adhesive sheet! Thanks Brian for a perfect idea of using them. I love your choice of layering and the letters adds another, great job!

  9. the foam adhesive strips take those letters to a whole new level (literally). fabulous card!

  10. Just Perfect.

Do you have to use a different cutting sandwich when you run the foam sheets through, or just business as usual? Just curious! Very cute card!

    • Thanks, Beth! I used the same sandwich as I do with other dies. I ran the dies through with the foam adhesive sheets and then with the cardstock. It was easy to place the cardstock on to the foam adhesive after-the-fact. So easy!

  12. Such a fun card today! Simple, clean, and cheery…just what I like!

  13. Had letters and foam sheets saved in my shopping bag…after reading how easily they play together, I’ll be hitting the order button soon!
