So Glad You’re in my Life

I created a background of beautiful leaves for the card I shared during last week’s Autumn Weather InKing Royalty Blog Hop. As I put the finishing touches on my card, I trimmed the large panel down a couple of times for a smaller focal panel. With all those patterned strips on my desk, I knew I’d have to find a way to use them. Today I did. Here’s my notecard-sized card with some of the leftovers from last week’s card:

  • Love of Leaves Bundle. The Love of Leaves Bundle makes many appearances on my card today. Not only are the strips that create the background inked with the watercolored leaves in the Love of Leaves stamp set, but the leaves the pop out to the right of the oval are stamped with the Love of Leaves stamp set and cropped with the Stitched Leaves Dies. The sentiment is also from this incredibly versatile stamp set. Here’s a look at the Love of Leaves Bundle: Love of Leaves Bundle, Stampin Up! 155195Again, the strips showcased on my card are from a card I shared last week. In case you missed last week’s card, you can see it below (and you can click on the photo below if you want to see the original post for this project):Love of Leaves, Country Home, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHow’s that for repurposing?
  • Three Stitched Dies. My card features three sets of dies that feature stitched edges and stitched elements. Can you name all three? Go ahead, scroll back up and find all three – I know it’s been a long night or day or morning, but you can do it. OK, OK…here are the three stitched dies that are featured on this card:
    • Stitched Leaves Dies (#153567). While my card doesn’t show any stitching from the Stitched Leaves Dies, the dies are used to crop the leaves that are featured to the right of the sentiment.
    • Stitched So Sweetly Dies (#151690). This set of dies just might be one of my favorite sets of dies in a very long time. I love the variety of shapes in this set of dies. The scalloped border around the focal panel is from this set of dies.
    • Stitched Shapes Dies (#152323). The Stitched Shapes Dies feature squares, circles and ovals – and you need all of them. This oval gave me exactly what I needed to showcase this sentiment. Love these dies!
  • Warm Color Combination. While the strips that create the backdrop on my card feature Bumblebee, Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze on a Very Vanilla backdrop, I chose to feature Bumblebee and Soft Suede on this card. Love of Leaves, Stampin Up!, Brian KingIf you like this warm mix of Very Vanilla, Bumblebee and Soft Suede as much as I do, please save this for future reference:Stampin' Up! Do you save scraps from your projects? I often times do – and I save them up to use but don’t always use them. I purge the pile of leftovers every once in a while. Still, it’s exciting when I can actually use them.

  1. Wonderful cards, Brian. I really like the first one with with narrow strips of. DSP. Another great color combo .

    • Thank you so much, Marilyn! I had to let Very Vanilla play an important role in both cards to help tone down the rich colors. I’m so glad you like the card – thank you so much for your comments.

  2. No doubt this card is destined for me? Love the strips of designer paper. Gorgeous colors!

  3. This is a great use of your leftover strips. I love them on today’s card and how the scalloped layer goes so well with the scallops on the leaves. I’m sure that is not by accident. I love the font of the sweet sentiment, too. Have a wonderful day!

  4. Both cards are gorgeous Brian! Hope you have had a nice summer. Fall is in the air up here in Maine!

I have tons of scraps because I can’t just throw them away but need to actually use some of them. You have inspired me with today’s card.
