Happy World Cardmaking Day!

2020 has been a really long year, but the day you’ve been waiting for is here! It’s World Cardmaking Day! Yippee! On this day, you have the perfect excuse to cancel all plans, stay inside and make as many cards as you want to make. Don’t let anyone rain on your Cardmaking Day parade today! ♥

To celebrate this special day (and the first year I’m not hosting a big even with a hundred of my closest friends), I’ve made a card with some of my favorite things – the card combines two wonderful Designer Series Papers, features a favorite sentiment of mine and showcases a set of dies everyone needs in their life. Here’s my Happy World Cardmaking Day card:

Itty Bitty Birthdays, World of Good, Stampin Up!, Brian King

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

FMS455Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • A Beautiful World of Good. The Beautiful World Bundle and World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper and complementary components of the same suite – and I love them both so much. Especially on a day like World Cardmaking Day! The globe and background circle are cropped with the World Map Dies, part of the Beautiful World Bundle. Here’s a look at this bundle:Beautiful World Bundle, Stampin Up!, 154091The 2-1/2″ strip of the East Cost of the United States on my Card are pulled from the World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this incredible pack of papers: World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 152491The reason I picked this segment of the map on the paper? Just to the right of the cropped sentiment is Brunswick, GA (the birthplace of Brian King). Move up a little and to the left (and peal back the vellum circle a bit), you’ll see Knoxville, TN (where I moved to attend graduate school) and Atlanta, GA (where I’ve been since graduation). Such fun! Itty Bitty Birthdays, World of Good, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe 1-1/4″ strip of black-and-white paper along the left side of the base square is pulled from the Halloween-themed Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper. • Most Used. If I had to pick a current stamp set that I’ve used more than any other, I’d have to say it’s the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set – and I don’t always use it for birthdays. The sentiments in this set are versatile to slide into other celebrations or happy salutations. Here’s a look at the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set:Itty Bitty Birthdays, Stampin' Up! 148618I placed a piece of tape over “you” in the “Lets Celebrate You” sentiment, tapped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, removed the tape and the stamped onto Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock. I then cropped the sentiment with the Classic Label Punch:Classic Label Punch, Stampin' Up! 141491I snipped the banner tips off the punched sentiment for a squared off look.
  • Gorgeous Neutral Tones. I mostly make cards with lots of bright colors or cool color combinations, but neutral tones are not difficult for me. I love the clash of Crumb Cake and Basic Black – and Very Vanilla also helps to temper the darkness of the black. If you like this combination of Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and Basic Black, I hope you will save this for future reference:  Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Basic Black

I hope you’ll pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
