Today I’m sharing a card that showcases the sweet side of Halloween – nothing spooky and nothing scary. This sweet, square pumpkin shares a fun background I created with the Pattern Play stamp set. Overall, it’s a fun card that is certain to make the recipient smile. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Three Stamp Sets from Three Bundles. My card features three stamp sets that couldn’t be more different from one another – and each stamp set is part of a bundle (thought I didn’t use the associated punch or dies on this project). All three stamp sets come together on a single, fun card. Here’s a look at the Everything Essential Bundle:
I stamped the pumpkin on Thick Whisper White cardstock and cropped it with a Stitched Shapes Circle. I stamped the pumpkin again on Mango Melody cardstock, snipped him out and glued him to the circle base. Here’s a look at the Pattern Play Bundle (I’ve used these Playful Alphabet Dies A LOT, but this is the first time I’ve showcased the Pattern Play stamp set:
The sentiment on this card is pulled from the Hallows Night Magic stamp set, a set that offers a sophisticated, elegant view of Halloween. Here’s a look at this incredible bundle:
- My Bad. Mistakes in card making can always be covered up. π After I stamped my band down the middle and the dots below on this panel of Mango Melody, I stamped the “Trick-or-Treat sentiment” right on the card base. Argh! It was not as straight as I wanted it to be AND it was too far to the left. What to do? What to do? I added a thin strip of Whisper White to the card base – it was thick enough to cover my mistake and helped me to build an additional element on my card. Yay!
- Color Combination. Mango Melody isn’t a color I use a lot – and when I do, I tend to use it lightly. It’s just so bright! It was perfect, though, on this sweet Halloween card. If you like this mix of Mango Melody, Basic Gray and Basic Black as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

Thank you so much, Susan! I needed the gray to tone down the brightness a bit. It was fun to embrace Mango Melody on this card. Glad you like it!

Thanks, Tonya! This card kind of built itself as I went along – nothing like what I planned, but that’s what made it so fun. Glad you like it!
You had me laughing this morning Brian. Some of my best cards are covering oopsies underneath. LOL That pumpkin is so telling. It’s naughty face indicates you may be in for a trick if you don’t have a treat to give. Love this one Brian.
Thanks, Grace! I, too, love the face on this pumpkin – he knows he’s done something naughty. So happy to make you smile. β₯
Using Mango Melody is a fresh approach and I like the switch from the traditional orange for something a little different ! I like this stamp set because it has so much personality and variety plus love that haunted house . I may end up adding it to my collection because the birds will be cute for Valentine`s Day !!
Cute card ! You did good covering your UH -OH !

Super cute card Brian. Your little pumpkin reminds me of Halloween yard decorations.
Very cute. I just happen to have that stamp. So you know what I’ll be doing with it.
