Sympathy with Halloween Paper

I’m not the first person in the world to make a beautiful card with this year’s spooky, elegant Halloween-themed Designer Series Paper, and I won’t be the last. The spiders and bats in the paper are perfect for the scary holiday, but there are some brilliantly wonderful pages that lend themselves to other occasions. Here’s my sympathy card with this Halloween Paper:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Magic in this Night. There is magic in the beautiful patterns and colors found in the Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper. This black-and-white panel of flowers and the harlequin-style page below it are from this pack of papers that are design for Halloween but perfect for others times of the year. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper: Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 153517If you received this card as a show of sympathy, you would recognize it from this pack of spooky papers, but those not involved in stamping would never that this paper wasn’t designed to be a sympathy paper.
  • Supporting Sentiment. The sentiment on this card is the star of this card – it sets the tone for the rest of the project. The sentiment, from Peaceful Moments, is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a 1″ strip of Soft Sea Foam cardstock. Here’s a look at the gorgeous sentiments in the Peaceful Moments stamp set:Peaceful Moments, Stampin Up! 151595I cropped the sentiment with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch – such a great punch to create so many unique edges: Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, Stampin Up! 152883
  • Color Combination. I started to make this a black-and-white card but decided it needed a little color – sympathy cards don’t need to be dark and dreary. I usually add a touch of yellow to sympathy cards, but I complemented this paper with Soft Sea Foam. I sponged a little bit of the light green ink to the Designer Series Paper panel on the front of the card: Peaceful Moments, Stampin Up!, Brian King, sympathy cardIf you like this combination of Whisper White, Soft Sea Foam and Basic Black, please save this for future reference: Stampin Up!
