Be Jolly This Season

I’ve recently made some Christmas cards with non-traditional colors (I’ll be sharing those cards with you next week), but today I’m sharing a card with the most traditional of Christmas colors – rich greens and rich red. There’s also a little pop of fun in this sophisticated palette of colors. Here’s my card:

Christmas Gleaming, Tis the Season, Stampin Up!, Brian KingTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • ‘Tis the Season. My card features three patterns from the ‘Tis the Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. How fun is that?! There are so many great Christmas-themed patterns with so many great greens and reds in this pack of papers. Here’s a look at the patterns and colors in the ‘Tis the Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:Tis the Season Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 153489If you’d like to flip through all of the pages in this pack of papers, click on the photo below: Tis the Season Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!‘Tis the Season is one of 15 papers that are 15% off in October. • Sweet Sentiment. I wanted something with “sweet” to coordinate with my panel of candy canes. I couldn’t find a sentiment that gave me that (and was the size I needed it to be), but…since sweet things make us happy, then a jolly sentiment would work great, too! I reached for this sentiment from Christmas Gleaming, a returning favorite in this year’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog. While the bundle includes the stamp set, coordinating punches and coordinating papers, I only used the stamp set here. Christmas Gleaming, Tis the Season, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe sentiment in the stamp set is actually “& be jolly this season.” I used a piece of tape to cover up the “&” before I stamped this sentiment on Thick Whisper White. I cropped the sentiment with a Stitched Nested Labels Die. So sweet.
  • Double Bow. This past week, one of my team members asked about the bow dies that are included in the Arrange a Wreath Bundle – it’s not initially obvious what the dies are created to do. There’s a beautiful bow (to the right of the “love” heart below) and another shape (just above the “love” heart below). Here’s a look at this bundle: Arrange a Wreath Bundle, Stampin Up! 154109It might not be initially obvious, but the shape above the “love” heart allows you to make a double bow on your bow. I layered it below the full bow on my tag: Christmas Gleaming, Tis the Season, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Great traditional Christmas color palette ? Although I love other Christmas color palettes, this one is a favorite.

  6. Sweet mix of DSP! Very pretty holiday card!

  7. Since I began following your blog Brian I have learned so much about the details that layering brings out. Not only have I learned to layer to draw the eye in card making but also in my quilting. Today those thin white layers seem to be what allows the mix of DSPs to shine. I just love it. Thank you.

  8. Brian, I love this great Christmas card and how you inspire us to use our DSP stash. Enjoy your day!

  9. Jolly by golly it is!
