Accessorized for the Be Inspired Blog Hop

It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!

For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop, we are sharing Stampin’ Up! projects we’ve accessorized with wonderful embellishments or ribbons. It’s a small group this month, but I know you’ll love the projects. If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the amazing project shared by my talented friend Cathy Caines.

Merry & Bright with Joyful Holiday

ac·ces·so·ry /əkˈses(ə)rē/, noun – a thing which can be added to something else in order to make it more useful, versatile, or attractive.

What’s the point in adding a shiny rhinestone, smooth enamel dot or textured ribbon if they don’t lend something really special to a project?! I was really excited to use the Joyful Holiday photopolymer stamp set to make a background for today’s card and the Wonderful Gems to add a little bling to the stamp set. Here’s my card:

Joyful Holly, Wonderful Gems, Stampin Up!, Brian King

The Joyful Holly photopolymer stamp set is a two-step stamp set that should be part of your Christmas stamp set collection. The set includes the outline of two holly branches. While you COULD color in the holly and berries, there are stamps that will do that for you. There’s even a stamp for the berries. And don’t miss the beautiful sentiments. Here’s a look at the Joyful Holly stamp set:

Joyful Holly, Stampin Up!, 153440I stamped the outline of my holly branches with Garden Green ink and stamped the inside of the holly leaves with Pear Pizzazz. Rather that stamp or color the berries, I added small Wonderful Gems. After I applied all of the berries over the circles in the holly designs, I peppered a few more over the card to balance the splash of shine:
Wonderful Gems, Stampin Up!, 153536These adhesive-backed gems are clear and Real Red with gold flecks in each. They are gorgeous – I have a couple of packs. There’s no reason why they won’t be useful after the Christmas holiday. Here’s a closeup look at these gems on my card:

I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with different greens for Christmas. There was a time when you’d either use Real Red with Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler with Garden Green. Pear Pizzazz, Just Jade, Mossy Meadow and Soft Sea Foam add so much to the traditional Christmas color schemes. If you like this mix of Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green and Real Red as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

Dear Brian … great response to the challenge!
I love holly leaves and their berries. Using the beautiful gems in place of stamping them is stunning. Thumbs up!

  9. Well since I cannot convince you to use glitter I’m happy that SU came up with the glittery gems. I bet they did that just for you and look how beautiful they made sparkle for this gorgeous Christmas card. Now I sometimes have problems with double stamping and getting the two stamps to fit perfectly together. Did you use the Stamperatus or just get everything aligned perfectly by eye? Fantastic card Brian (as always).
