Boo to You!

Halloween is this weekend – where has this year gone!? The year has flown by so fast – I can’t put my finger on anything out-of-the-ordinary from this past year, but I’ll keep thinking on it. Today I’m sharing the last of my 2020 Halloween projects – I just HAD TO make this card with the fun sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch this week. Here’s my spooky Halloween card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Spooky Spiderwebs & Gorgeous Glimmer. This spooky card is filled to the brim with spooky things: spooky spiderwebs and gorgeous, black glimmer paper. The base of the Smoky Slate panel is embossed with the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder – I love the impression of spider webs on this panel of cardstock! Here’s a look at the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder: Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder, Stampin Up! 153578Three little spiderwebs provide a fun backdrop for the sentiment on my card – these are cropped from the Peek-a-Hoot Dies, part of the Have a Hoot Bundle (that covers a variety of holidays, including Halloween, in its sweet images). The shiny glitter on the pages of Stampin’ Up!’s Black Glitter Paper…wait for it…stays on the paper. There’s no shedding here – and you know how important that is to me. • Boo to you! I don’t like to be scared, but I don’t mind a scary sentiment on a beautiful card. I cropped the “BOO!” sentiment from Black Glitter Paper with my Playful Alphabet Dies – so easy, and so fun. I didn’t pop up the letters with Foam Adhesive Sheets (although I could). Here’s a closer look:Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder, Playful Alphabet Dies, Stampin Up!, Brian King“BOO!” felt a little naked, so I added “to you!” from the Seaside Notions stamp set. Since the stamp in the set says, “HERE’S TO YOU!,” I only inked up the “TO YOU!” with Versamark and heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Cute, huh?
  • Acorn Punch from Autumn Punch Pack. I used the acorn punch from the Autumn Punch Pack to assemble today’s card – you can’t see it here, but I definitely used it. Want to know how? Of course you, do! Here’s a clue:Adding layers on top of glitter paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingGlitter Paper has a paper back that’s easy to glue down, but the glittery surface can be tricky, right?! Here’s how I assembled the black glitter background on this card:
    • I punched four acorns just inside the edges of the paper (it doesn’t have to be an acorn, but the acorn gave me just what I needed) and glued the glitter paper to the Basic Black card base. Again, THAT side of the paper is easy to glue down since it’s just paper. Adding layers on top of glitter paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King, part 1
    • After the glitter paper was glued down, I added Stampin’ Dimensionals just inside the holes – each Dimensional attached to the paper below the glitter paper: Adding layers on top of glitter paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King, part 2
    • Then I centered the top panel over the card base and pressed it into the Stampin’ Dimensionals below. So easy!

Stamp Sets: Seaside Notions  Papers: Black Glitter Paper, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Thick Whisper White  Inks: Versamark  Accessories: Playful Alphabet Dies, Peek-a-Hoot Dies, Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
