Spring Chicken with Hey Chick & Hey Birthday Chick

We are in the home stretch for the final challenge of the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge. I’ve loved being a part of the design team for several years now (what an honor!) and wanted to play along with the challenge one last time before the challenge site retires for good. To add my own spin to this week’s sketch, I reached for two bundles that will be available to customers starting February 2 – that’s tomorrow! How fun is that?! Here’s my second card for the 405th CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge:

Hey Chick Bundle, Hey Birthday Chick Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian King

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

CTS405In case you missed it, here’s my original project for this final challenge (you can click on the photo below to see my original post for this card if you’d like to read more):

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Spring Chicken. The title of my post is “Spring Chicken with Hey Chick & Hey Birthday Chick” – if you caught, that they you might feel a little puzzled by my card. Yes, there are three chickens. Yes, there is a “happy birthday” sentiment. It’s the inside of the card, though, that pulls it all together. Once again, here’s the outside: Hey Chick Bundle, Hey Birthday Chick Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian Kingand here’s the inside of the card:Hey Chick Bundle, Hey Birthday Chick Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI mean, really! How adorable is this hatching chick and the fun sentiment inside the card!? The inside is pulled from the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set (it’s available in the January – June 2021 Mini Catalog, but the Bundle will be available starting tomorrow (February 4). Want to know more?
  • Hey Chick & Hey Birthday Chick Bundles. I shared my first project with the upcoming bundles last week. Not only is Stampin’ Up! bringing back Hey Chick, a super-popular Sale-a-Bration offering from 2017, but they are adding a set of must-have dies that you are going to want in your craft room. In addition, they’re going to offer a set of dies that coordinate with the new Hey Birthday Chick stamp set. Here’s a flyer that shares the new bundles and dies that will be offered starting February 2:I’ll be sharing more projects with these new bundles tomorrow. I hope you’ll come back to learn more.
  • Two Color Combinations. My card features a trio of chickens that make me so happy. I cropped them with circle punches, cropped them with the coordinating dies, mounted them on a black circle from the same punch and then framed them with Layering Circle Dies. Here’s a closer look: Hey Chick Bundle, Hey Birthday Chick Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe birds are colored with a mix of Stampin’ Blends – Petal Pink, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake and Calypso Coral. Color Inspiration - Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, Crumb CakeWhile the colors of the chickens play an important role on this card, the primary colors on this card – a mix of Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Basic Black – make me very happy.
