Kind People with the Simply Succulents Bundle

The color combination at the FabFriday Challenge that goes live today left me no other option than to FINALLY play with my Simply Succulents Bundle – the mix of Mossy Meadow, Mint Macaron, Highland Heather and Calypso Coral are at home in a succulents garden, so I knew what I needed to do. Such fun! Here’s my card, which features a large panel of outlined succulents and a sentiment I love so much:

Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Mossy Meadow, Mint Macaron, Highland Heather, Calypso CoralTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Simply Succulents. While there are some great sentiments and images of succulents in the Simply Succulents stamp set, it’s the 5-3/8″ x 4″ background die that sold me on this bundle – and if you are getting the dies, you might as well add the stamp set and save 10% on both. Score! Here’s a look at the Simply Succulents Bundle: Simply Succulents Bundle, Stampin Up!, 156264I cropped a couple of the aloe and string of pearl succulents, but they distracted from my simple layout. I will add those guys to my “inspiration bucket” so I have them for a future project. What fun!
  • Layers of Detail. If you weren’t paying attention (that’s not like you!), you might have thought my design is a bit boring because you didn’t see all the glorious detail in the layers on my card. Here’s a closer look: Simply Succulents Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian KingIt’s possible this photo is gratuitous, though, because you always pay close attention. Anyway, Here’s how I built this card:
    • I added a layer of Adhesive Sheets to Mossy Meadow cardstock.
    • I cropped out the large die from the Potted Succulents Dies.
    • I cleaned out all the pieces (many of them came right out when I pealed away the Adhesive Sheet backing).
    • I stuck the cutout to another piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock.
    • I repeated all of those steps with Mint Macaron, Highland Heather and Calypso Coral.
    • Why did I use the Adhesive Sheets? It allowed me to trim down the largest panel (I used my guillotine cutter to cut the Mossy Meadow panel) and crop out the others with Layering Circle Dies such that all the little end pieces were neatly glued down – AND it was really clean. • Flashback. Back in January 2018, I was asked to join the CAS(E) This Sketch Design Team and stayed active with the team until it closed earlier this year. It was a great joy. Today I’m sharing my first card as a Design Team Member – and I think you’ll see why I’m sharing it:Hanging Garden, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CTS253You can click on the photo above to see my original post for the project. If you aren’t sure why I shared that card, maybe this will help (you can click on this photo to see my original post for this project):Kraft Pillow Box, Hanging Garden, Foliage Frames Framelits Dies, Ribbon of Courage Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, gift ideasI know you already see the connection, but I’m going to share, anyway. The sentiment used in both of these projects (from the retired Hanging Garden) is the same sentiment in Simply Succulents – and I love it! It’s a great sentiment, and I’m happy to see it back.

  1. Hey Brian – love the detail of that diecut; the coloured circles look great against the solid background, very modern and artsy. And that is a great sentiment too!

  2. I love the technique you used today with the diecut over the same color cardstock. So pretty and fresh with the sweet sentiment. Enjoy your day!

  8. I love this card. The colors are perfect, the layers add just the right texture and the overlapping circles give good balance. But, the sentiment is the star!

    • Thanks so much, Dianne! I tried to add other elements to the card, but I couldn’t – didn’t want to cover up the delicate design on these circles and background. LOVE this sentiment, too! Glad you like it!

  9. Great card, Brian. I love the simplicity of it, yet the texture is amazing! I have yet to play with this set…I better get busy.

  10. What a beautiful & unique way to use this die and bundle! I just love it! Thanks for the great idea, Brian.
