It’s Memorial Day weekend in the United States. While the holiday marks the official kickoff of Summer (many are headed to the beach, hanging out by pools or enjoying cookouts with friends), Memorial Day is a day to remember those who’ve died in military service to our country. There’s nothing more patriotic than the beautiful combination of red, white and blue, and there’s nothing more American than apple pie. Today’s card is a thank you card that combines these colors with this image for one patriotic project. Here’s my card:

My card fits nicely with this week’s Paper Player’s challenge, too! For the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, I run diagonal from top/left to bottom/right to pick up blue, red and white. Yay! Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• Sentiment. The “thank you” on the front of this card is the perfect tie between the Americana images and the Memorial Day holiday. The sentiment is pulled from the Inspired Thoughts Bundle, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog. Here’s a closer look:I stamped the sentiment (which I masked to only pull in the “thank you”) on Pool Party cardstock to add a little Pool Party to the left side of the card front, a little balance to the panel of Pool Party in the background on the right. There’s a lovely sentiment in the set that would be perfect to complete this Memorial Day project (although it’s more appropriate for Veteran’s Day): “It’s your time to be remembered, to feel appreciated and to know you’re appreciated.”
• Color Combination. I’m a big fan of the red, white and blue. Here are some of my favorite color combinations that are perfect for Memorial Day, including the combination I used on this card:
