Lucky Goldfish with Stampin’ Up!’s Seascape Bundle

Before I share today’s card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I want to thank Judy Rozema for choosing my mushroom-filled project for last week’s challenge as her choice for “Perfect Prince” (if you missed that card, you can see it here).  I receive so much inspiration from these online challenges and love playing along – it’s never my goal, but it’s always wonderful to be recognized by the design team members.  Thanks, Judy!

Goldfish are a symbol of good luck in many cultures. My fish is front-and-center on my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches, hosted by my friend Linda Callahan. What fun! Here’s my card:

FMS489Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Seascape Bundle. The beautiful fish comes from the Sea Life Dies, part of the Seascape Bundle that’s new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog. Here’s a look a this wonderful stamp set and gorgeous, coordinating dies:Seascape Bundle, Stampin Up! 158359I didn’t understand how the seahorse and fish dies worked, so I just bought them. 🙂 I’m happy to tell you about them, though, in case you have the same questions – the fish and sea horse cut right into the paper and stay a part of the page with a thin border around them. To remove the fish, I simply snipped in four places (where the head of the fish meets the fins and the body between the back fins and tail). That was way easier than I thought. I will definitely play around with showcasing the fish as shown above.
  • Oh So Shiny! The fish and his beautiful blue backdrop on my card are cut from or cropped from pages in the Ombre Specialty Paper. This paper is a 12″ x 12″ pack of papers that includes shiny, ombre pages in four colors: Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody, Night of Navy and Poppy Parade. What a gorgeous pack of fun pages! Here’s a look:Ombre Specialty Paper, Stampin Up! 155784These colorful, shiny pages came in handy on my fishy card – just look at all of the shine on the Mango Melody fish and Night of Navy backdrop: Seascape Bundle, Oval Occasions, Stampin Up!, Brian KingOne more point…I decided to leave the little piece of Mango Melody in the fish’s mouth because he looks unhappy – I know that’s the anatomy of a fish, but I wanted an obviously happy fish on my card.
  • Fun Sentiment. The sentiment on my card is from the Oval Occasions stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2021 Mini Catalog. While the Double Oval Punch is carrying over into Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog, the Oval Occasions stamp set is retiring on June 30 (or when supplies run out). Now’s your chance to pick up this bundle at a 10% discount for both the stamp set and punch:Oval Occasions Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian KingSince goldfish are good luck, the “So lucky to know you” sentiment was a perfect saying for my gold…er…Mango Melody fish. I taped off the flowers at the top of the stamp, inked the stamp, removed the tape and stamped it down on Thick Basic White cardstock. I then cropped it with one of the Hippo & Friends Dies: Seascape Bundle, Oval Occasions, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Stamp Sets: Oval Occasions  Papers: Ombre Specialty Paper, Night of Navy, Thick Basic White  Inks: Night of Navy, Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends  Accessories: Sea Life Dies, Hippo & Friends Dies, Opal Rounds, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Brian
