You are the Best with Sweet Symmetry

Today’s card is a mix of two patterns in the folk art, floral pages of the Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper and a clean sentiment. Together with a simple layout, they create a clean card that’s a gift to any recipient. Here’s my card:

Tasteful Touches, Sweet Symmetry, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sweet Symmetry. How gorgeous are the colors and patterns on my card? They are from the Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog. There are a lot of flowers in the patterns, but many of them are part of such cool patterns that they aren’t flowery. I love that! Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers: Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 155605The two patterns I featured on my card layering on top of each other beautifully. The monochromatic pattern on the Night of Navy piece doesn’t clash with the yellow, blue and coral patterns on the top piece – partially because the bottom piece is monochromatic and the top piece has a white base. • Bold Sentiment. When you build a card around a very detailed pattern, you can’t afford to showcase a frilly sentiment. I was looking for a “way to go” type sentiment, so the “You are the best” saying from Tasteful Touches was exactly what I wanted. It’s a super-clean font with a straightforward style. Here’s a look at the other sentiments and images in the Tasteful Touches stamp set: Tasteful Touches, Stampin Up! 152562I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy on Thick Basic White cardstock and cropped it with a Stitched Rectangles Die. I layered that on another layer that was cropped from Calypso Coral with a Stitched Rectangle Die. Here’s a closer look at the sentiment: Tasteful Touches, Sweet Symmetry, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI had a few extra Opal Rounds that I colored with a Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend from the project I shared on Friday, so I scattered those on this card to complement the colors and pattern. Yay for easy extras!
  • Color Combination. Other than white, there are only three colors 0n this card – Bumblebee, Calypso Coral and Night of Navy. I pulled two of these colors (Calypso Coral and Night of Navy) from the top piece of Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper to incorporate elsewhere on the card. If you like this mix of Bumblebee, Calypso Coral and Night of Navy as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:Stampin Up! 4. I love your ability to mix patterns and never have them fighting to blend. I’ve seen many cards that use combined DSPs that are overwhelming yet you seem to be able to “marry” them so they compliment each other. You are amazing and so is today’s card!
