Sweets & Treats for the InKing Royalty Blog

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

09-2021 IRBH Candy & TreatsWelcome to InKing Royalty’s September Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are having fun with our stamping favorites – our favorite themes for seasonal cards and projects. This month’s projects feature candy and treats, so prepare your sweet tooth for some wonderful projects. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Sweets & Treats

I’m showcasing the Sweets & Treats stamp set for the Candy & Treats blog hop. It’s almost like the two were made for each other. While the stamp set features several sweets (a beautiful fruit cake, a pie and a cupcake), I decided to play with the sugar-coated apple. Candied apples, caramel apples and chocolate-dipped apples are a Fall favorite (I could have shortened that to just say “apples are a Fall favorite”), so I knew I could make something fun with the apples. Here’s what I made:

Sweets & Treats, Stampin Up!, Brian KingNot only does my apple-filled card feature a mix of Granny Smith Apples and Gala Apples, but some are caramel-coated and others are chocolate-dipped. Such a sweet variety of bright and brown tones. Here’s a look at the Sweets & Treats stamp set I used to build my background and to stamp my sentiment on my card:

Sweets & Treats, Stampin Up! 156561Not only can you put any of these sweet treats on this cake pedestal, but the glass topper coordinates with the Glass Cloche Dies on page 22 in the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog. What fun!

I stamped my apples on Thick Basic White cardstock with Early Espresso ink. After the ink dried, I colored each of the apples with a mix of Real Red and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. The chocolate and caramel coatings were colored with Bronze and Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends.

Sweets & Treats, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI wanted a unique shape for the apples on my card – something that mimicked the spread of caramel across a marble kitchen countertop (or the drips of sweetness on the apple). The Layering Diorama Dies gave me just what I wanted. While these dies are designed to create an inlaid design on a card, I used the to build this layered pop-up of crispy, candied apples. Here’s a look at the Layering Diorama Dies:

Layering Diorama Dies, Stampin Up! 155565The Layering Diorama Dies are one of eight unbundled dies between pages 162 and 166 of Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog. They are not bundled with a stamp set, so they are only referenced in the first 161 pages of the book. If you’d like to learn more about these unbundled dies, CLICK HERE.

The green and red apples are bright and cheery – and they mix well with the warm tones of the chocolate, caramel and background papers. With different balances of the three colors, this combination could be used for a variety of holidays – not just Fall. If you like the mix of Granny Apple Green, Real Red and Soft Suede I used on this card, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

    • Thanks so much, Hilda! I really had fun with this one – it was going to be a boring, rectangle base of apples until I added the Diorama Dies. So happy with how they transformed my project. Have a great day! ♥

    • Thanks, Pam! I never lost a tooth, but I still have to cut up an apple for fear a tooth or two will stay in the apple. These dies are great – go ahead and get them. Enjoy!
