Yesterday I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers – during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. It’s always such fun to see what others are making and to spend that time with my customers who participate. I’ll host a similar call with my InKing Royalty team members this afternoon. Can’t wait to see what they make!
Today I’m sharing three alternative projects with this months’ Haunts & Harvest kit – a Fall-themed kit with pumpkins, apples and a wheelbarrow to carry them in. Here’s a look a the finished projects from the September 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit:
The kit includes little treat boxes that can be turned into pumpkins, apples or jack-o-lanterns. These treat boxes are perfect for Thanksgiving or Halloween. The components of the kit can also be used to make other projects. I’m sharing three with you today.
Here’s a look at three cards I made with the elements from the Haunts & Harvest Kit, followed by a closer look at each:
Here’s a closer look at all three:
Basket Weave
Before the pre-cut treat boxes are folded and glued to form the shape of each box, there are six pointy panels that come together to create the treat box. Here’s a look from the Stampin’ Up!-created unboxing video:
To create the six strips I used to build a basket weave pattern for my card, I cut six 3/4″ x 3″ rectangles from one of the pointy panels shown above. Since they are double-sided, I used three from the green side and three from the orange side. I assembled the woven pattern, gluing each piece down with Min Glue Dots.
I stamped the sentiment (from the kit) with Soft Succulent ink on Thick Basic White and punched it out with my Double Oval Punch. I layered the basket weave pattern and sentiment on a 4-1/4″ square card base and several additional layers of color.
Hexagons
The base of each treat box is a hexagon (see the image of the un-assembled treat boxes above). I cut the hexagon bases off five of my treat boxes to build a pattern on my standard card base. The “thank you” sentiment on my card is pulled from the stamp set in this this kit – I isolated each word with masking tape and stamped each separately to layer them above and below each other here.
The sentiment is cropped with a Layering Circles Die and framed with a die from the Painted Labels Dies. The focal panel is framed with a thin layer of Evening Evergreen and popped up on a base of Soft Succulent. All-in-all, it’s a sweet and simple card, don’t you think?
Textured Leaves
The kit includes a mix of Soft Succulent leaves that can be attached to each treat box. Since I mostly used my kit components to make card, I ran the leaves through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder to give them a beautiful texture. I glued them along the left side of a Very Vanilla card panel and added a sentiment (from the stamp set in the kit). The sentiment is framed with a leaf and a cutout of Evening Evergreen with one of the dies in the Tasteful Labels Dies.
Stampin’ Up! has created some great videos to share these kits. Here are links to two videos by Stampin’ Up! related to this kit – click on the links if you’d like to see more:
