I’ve been holding a special piece of cardstock on my desk for a special project. Do you do that, too? I finally cut into that paper last night and made that project, and I’m excited to share it with you today. The colors are a bit unexpected for a Christmas card, but the images and elements are perfect for the holidays. Here’s my card:
This card started with the gorgeous panel of stars from the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper. I love the Bumblebee stars and white dots that grace the Evening Evergreen sky. It’s a really special piece of paper that can be used for both festive and religiously solemn projects – I love that versatility. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper:
The gorgeous tree on this card could have been provided by a number of stamps and dies you might have. I love the variety of trees in the Peaceful Cabin Bundle and the leafless tree in the Beauty of Friendship Bundle – all of these trees were cut and ready to go on this paper. In the end, though, I settled on this large tree from the Majestic Mountain Dies that coordinates with the Mountain Air stamp set in the 2021 Annual Catalog. I’ve shared the link to this set of dies at the base of this post.
I wanted a sweet, simple sentiment for my star-filled night sky. “Joy to the world” was perfect and EXACTLY what I wanted. I pulled the sentiment from the Stars are Shining stamp set, cropped it with a Layering Circles Die and popped it up on another circle of Vellum Cardstock (which was also popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals). Here’s a closer look:
Here’s a look at the Stars are Shining Bundle, new in Stampin’ Up!’s July – December 2021 Mini Catalog:
While Basic White and Evening Evergreen are not unexpected for Christmas, I love the pops of yellow in this pattern from the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper. If you like this mix of Basic White, Bumblebee and Evening Evergreen as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
Stamp Sets: Stars are Shining Papers: Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper, Evening Evergreen, Bumblebee, Vellum Cardstock, Thick Basic White Inks: Evening Evergreen Accessories: Majestic Mountain Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Would you send a card like this for Christmas? If so, did you ever think you’d be willing to send a green and yellow Christmas card?
Thanks for stopping by today!

Very striking! Great job 😉
Thank you so much, Suzie! ♥
As usual, you can pull out papers or obscure stamps that I hadn’t realized were there. Your card is very pretty. I love the sentiment with the circle of vellum. The stars DSP is just what I need for a card I’m making. It’s funny how things work out. Enjoy your day!
Yay! That makes me so happy, Hilda! There are SO MANY wonderful things to share – I’m certain I won’t be able to get them all in, but I’m going to try! ♥ Hope your day has been wonderful!
That touch of yellow really speaks to me. Freshens up a classic holiday color palette!
Thanks, Mary! “Freshens up” is a great way to say it – I like that. ♥
It is so peaceful and a sweet holiday card!
Thank you so much, Windy! ♥
Love it!
Thank you, Georgette. I’m so happy you like it.
That special piece of cardstock help create a very SPECIAL project my friend. TFS!
Thanks, Kadie! I’ve been holding on to it and decided I just needed to go for it! Glad you like it. ♥
Great card today Brian! Like how you went outside the box and used non traditional holiday colors. Thanks for the vellum reminder. I just don’t seem to remember to use it, and it’s so effective. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks, Sharon! I really like to use vellum to fill in spaces that feel blank. The sentiment was so small, but I didn’t want a bigger circle that would fully cover the patterned paper. So glad you like it. ♥
Beautiful card today Brian. The pop of Bumblebee really does reflect the Joy to the World saying as Bumblebee is such a bright and beautiful color. Fantastic card my friend. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much, Grace! Bumblebee is a beautiful color – I enjoyed working with it here. ♥
Brian, your sentiment is one of my most favorite. Joy to the World is short and sweet and covers EVERYONE! Everyone needs JOY!
I often forget to add vellum to my sentiment, great look!
Thank you so much, Katrina! I agree – Peace, Joy and Love are needed everywhere in this world. So glad you like it. ♥
This is so pretty – perfect holiday card!
