Happy Birthday with Design a Daydream

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Today I’m sharing a sweet-and-simple birthday card I made with two pages from the AMAZING Design a Daydream Designer Series Paper and two stamp sets that have carried forward into Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog from previous books. Here’s the sweet 4-1/4″ square card I made:

Biggest Wish, Count on Me, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Despite the printed words on page 179, this pack includes 48 pages (4 each of 12 double-sided designs). This is a host product that is only available with Stampin’ Rewards for just $18. That means you can pick up this pack of paper with a $150 order – a great incentive to stretch that order just a little bit more. 🙂 Here’s a closer look at the patterns and colors in this pack of papers:

Design a Daydream Host Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 159161I stamped “happy” and “BIRTHDAY” on a 3″ square piece of Basic White cardstock. There are many combinations available in the Biggest Wish stamp set – the scripty “happy” and blocky “BIRTHDAY” gave me just what what I wanted for this card. Here’s a look at this must-have sentiment stamp set:

The little balloon-holding penguin was pulled from the adorable Count on Me stamp set, a carryover from Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2022 Mini Catalog. After I glued my card down, I decided my penguin needed a little color, so I shaded him in with a Basic Black Watercolor Pencil and Pumpkin Pie Watercolor Pencil:

I often create balanced layers on my cards. I wanted something a little different for this simple, festive card, so I twisted the layer between the base and the focal panel on the card. That left the sentiment straight (compared to the base of the card), which makes it easier to read. The card feels a bit caddywampus, but only one layer is askew. Maybe it helps to explain why the penguin is a little off balance…

If you like the mix of Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Blackberry Bliss (pulled right from the Design a Daydream Host Designer Series Paper) as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
