All Spruced Up with Parakeet Party

Parakeet Party deserves a seat at the Christmas Colors Table, so I’ve showcased it in a sweet Christmas card to share with you today. I’ve tempered the brightness with Garden Green, a long-time favorite Christmas green. The card is both traditional and modern, and I had fun making it. Here’s my card:

Spruced Up, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Christmas card with packing tapeThe trees on my card are cropped with the Spruced Up Outlines Dies, new in Stampin’ Up!’s July – December 2022 Mini Catalog. While some of the images coordinate with the Spruced Up stamp set, most work alone. The stamp set is cute, but the dies sold me on this bundle. Here’s a look at the Spruced Up Bundle:

Spruced Up Bundle, Stampin Up! 159701You might not have noticed but the trees (and their outlines) are shiny on my card. While I COULD HAVE heat embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder before cropping them, I decided to FAUX-emboss them with a strip of packing tape on the cardstock before cropping them. What fun! Here’s a closer look at the shine:

I cropped my trees with Garden Green cardstock and Parakeet Party cardstock, switched the frames on each and then pieced them together with a little Scotch tape on the back. Here’s a look at the back of a tree from the pieces left over:

I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve used this fun folder – here’s a look:

Whimsical Woodlands 3D Embossing Folder, Stampin Up!, Brian KingIt was fun to work so much Parakeet Party into a Christmas card. Yay! If you like the mix of Parakeet Party, Garden Green and Crumb Cake as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

    1. Packing tape! Wow! What an awesome tip and I love the design!

    2. Yay faux embossing! Looks awesome!

    3. I love all the elements of this pretty card. The packing tape embossing adds a touch of elegance. Enjoy your day!

    4. Brian, those trees look like frosted Christmas sugar cookies! Love them!

    5. You are so clever. Love your card and the packing tape idea! When I mail a card that has lumpy accessories, like pearls, or rhinestones (not the Decorative Dots which are too high), I place that side in the envelope facing the back, seal the envelope and place packing take over the bumpy areas. Prevents any envelope tearing.

    6. Thanks Wendie for that tip !! Now, Brian I always find something to try or order when I read your entries ! Have to try using packing tape like you did for some WOW look on my cards and loving your Parakeet color !!!

    7. So, if I understand, you just put packing tape on the Garden Green Edge , before die cutting out then you adhered this to the Parkeet Party Tree somehow?

      • Did you trace the outline of the outline for tree on Garden Green Cardstock, then leave some space and fussy cut, then put packing tape on the opposite side before cutting out the Garden Green edge? I’m just trying to figure out exactly how you did this.

    8. Oh my goodness Brian, the packing tape is brilliant! I noticed that and wondered how you did it. And your card is stunning too!
