HI with Stampin’ Up!’s Alphabet A La Mode Dies

Last weekend I hosted a Fitting Florets Stamp Along with my InKing Royalty team. With the Holidays knocking on our door, I had to turn it around quickly. I created three projects for the call (that I’ve shared with you this week) and quickly mailed out the projects to those who were able to participate. If you’d like to see these three projects, you can see them here:

Before the call, I asked each of the participants to make one projects with the Evening Evergreen gingham print in the Fitting Florets Designer Series Paper –  we would use our projects in our introductions at the beginning of the call. I wasn’t prepared for the amazing projects the team would bring. The gingham paper was focal point on some and an accent on others. It was perfect on every single projects.

Here’s a look at some of the participants and the projects they shared:

Today I’m sharing the card I made for the call (I was assembling as I was opening the call and worked on it while others introduced themselves and shared their gingham projects. Here’s my card:

I cropped the Evening Evergreen gingham along the darker stripes in the pattern to fit perfectly on this 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ card front. I added a band of Evening Evergreen and a piece of Soft Succulent (cropped with the Deckled Rectangles Dies) and a sentiment created from two dies that are available in Stampin’ Up!’s January-April 2023 Mini Catalog:

  • Something Fancy Dies. This set of dies combines some great shapes for sentiments in some nested deigns that look really great together (there are 12 dies in all). The set of dies coordinates with an awesome sentiment set. I love a good sentiment set and love it more when it’s paired with amazing dies.
  • Alphabet A La Mode Dies. The new catalog introduces us to a new, slender alphabet set of dies that are PERFECT for cards or scrapbook pages. The dies are 1-9/16″ tall, and the widest is 15/16″ wide. I cropped “H” and “I” into the Evening Evergreen Something Fancy shape to leave the negative of the letters.

Before I share this story, I want to tell you that all ends well…I was excited to play with these new dies just before my call with my team. As I had signed up for OnStage in Jacksonville (but wasn’t able to attend), I received some goodies from the event and was able to purchase some items from the new catalog. These dies were at the top of my list. Anyway…I pulled off the “H”, the “I” and the “!” and cupped them in my hand. I walked over to my paper files and picked out a piece of Evening Evergreen. As I was standing there, I heard a little “clink” but didn’t think anything about it. I made my way over to my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to cut everything out. That’s when I realized I had lost the “!” over my paper files. The thinnest, most obscure die was lost in a sea of hanging folders.

After looking quickly (with not much time before my call), I decided to go with “H” and “I” and crossed my fingers I’d find the “!” later. You know how difficult these things can be to find, so I assumed I’d have to wait a long time before the die might show up.

This past week, I opened, emptied and shook each of the folders in the area where I had dropped the “!”. Nothing. So frustrating. I gave the entire card one big shake (more frustration than hope) and heard a little clang as the die fell out of the folders and hit the side of the metal cart. All was happy again in the kingdom.

    Dear Brian,
Ah, yes, dropping a die … especially a very thin/small one!
So happy you really didn’t lose it 😉. Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent are some of my favorites. Great job!

  3. The cliche of “all’s well that ends well” is quite appropriate. So glad you found that die!!!

  5. Thanks for showing the pictures of your team’s pretty cards. I like your card and the font of the new alphabet. It will be a great card to send in the new year or anytime. Losing a small die can be very frustrating, but luckily you found it in a short time. I have several stories about lost dies and stamps. Enjoy your day!

  7. Brian, I wouldn’t have know this was the negative space verse the letters on top, and losing the die, those little suckers can jump so far when they fall, so happy you found it so soon! Love the greens on this card.

  8. I absolutely love Stampin’ Up!’s Alphabet A La Mode Dies! They make it so easy to add a personalized touch to my crafts!
