A Sweet Day with Ice Cream Swirl

We are going on a Mother’s Day tour this weekend. We’ll be driving across town on Sunday to celebrate the special day with my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law, and my four-year-old niece. Mom will be meeting us, too, so there will be a log of celebrating, honoring and gift-giving. We have gifts and cards for all of the Moms – and decided to pick up a small gift for my niece. It’s nothing big – just something simple so she isn’t left out of all the gift-giving. We picked up a little pajama set with ice cream cones and popsicles all over it – certain to promote sweet dreams.

I made an ice cream cone card to coordinate with the pajama set. Here’s a look:

Ice Cream Swirl Card, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe little card is fancier than the pajama set that accompanies it. 🙂 The base of this sweet card is a cone that’s cropped with two dies in the Ice Cream Swirl Dies – one that crops the outline of the card and one that sits inside that die to create the texture on the cone. I used the same dies to cut the ice cream with Pretty in Pink cardstock and a piece of Pretty Petunia Glimmer Specialty Paper. She loves pink and purple and anything shiny, so I know it will be a hit! Here’s a look at the Ice Cream Swirl Dies:

Although I wouldn’t add these to a real-life ice cream cone, I love them on my shiny, paper ice cream. I colored the Pirouline cookie with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends, the Cherry with Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends and the strawberry with Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends. I colored the strawberry tops with Shy Shamrock Stampin’ Blends. Here’s a closer look at the goodies atop my ice cream:

Ice Cream Swirl Card, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThis isn’t a birthday gift or a Mother’s Day gift – just a little something. “Hope your day is sweet” is the prefect sentiment for the inside of this little ice cream cone card. Here’s a look:

  2. The touch of glimmer makes a delicious swirl.

    • The glimmer paper wasn’t in my original design – so glad it was just sitting there for me to play with. I know she’ll love the glimmer paper. 🙂 Thanks, Mary!

  3. This is the cutest card ever! Sweet as can be for sure!

    • Awwww…thanks so much, Linda! It’s the first time I’ve used the ice cream and cone on a card before, but this is the first one I’ve made like this. Such fun!

  4. Your family is so lucky to have you- enjoy the family time and thanks for the reminder about in color glimmer paper! I am often more excited to give the card than the actual gift!

    • Thanks, Jen! That’s definitely the case with this little gift – I’m way more excited about the card than the little pair of pajamas. 🙂

  5. Wow! What a sweet card to go with the pretty pj’s. She will love both. I love the card with the glimmer paper. You are so clever! Enjoy your tour with your family.
