Three Things I Love About This Magnolia Mood Card

I’m excited to share a card I received from Sara Douglass, Stampin’ Up!’s CEO after reaching a recent sales milestone as a demonstrator for the company. While I don’t believe (and I could be wrong) Sara designs or creates the beautiful cards she mails out, she always writes a lovely note inside. Her note is always personalized, and I find it so special. There’s something I really, really love about the design of this card – and I couldn’t imagine NOT sharing it. Here’s the card I received:

  • BEAUTIFUL TEXTURE. There are so many elements in this card that add beautiful texture to the finished product. Here are four important elements that make you want to run your finder over the card front:
    • Texture Embossing. The Basic White panel on the card is texture-embossed with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder. It’s a simple texture but every effective for a shabby-chic, distressed card.
    • Detailed Die-Cutting. The Magnolia Mood die used to crop the large magnolia and leaves features detailed leaves and textured petals for an image you’d be happy to include on any project. The die is beautiful, and any recipient would certainly run their finger over the gorgeous texture.
    • Torn edges. The left and right side of the sentiment strip are hand-torn. It’s a small element, but it makes a big difference.
    • Faux ink texture. The card features several “flicks” of a Basic Black or Early Espresso marker to fill in some of the open space and give an aged look to the project. The flicks add something special to the project, don’t you think?Magnolia Mood Bundle, Stampin Up!, by Stampin Up! artists
  • LOVELY LAYOUT. You already know I love many, many layers of cardstock on a card front. The four panels and sentiment strip are positioned on this card is such a fun way to create a layout that’s versatile for any occasion. You might think the layers of Crumb Cake behind the Basic White and Very Vanilla panel might get lost against the Crumb Cake background, but these layers are necessary and add balance to the composition of the card. While none of the elements are centered on the card front (like I tend to do), the entire composition is perfectly balanced on the card front. Bravo!
  • COMBINATION OF WHITE AND VANILLA. I studied the warmth of this card for a while before it struck me that the artist who designed it (it COULD HAVE BEEN Sara) combined Basic White and Very Vanilla papers. The two are very popular, but I don’t often see them together. It’s so different and so wonderful! If you like the mix of Basic White, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference: Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Basic White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake

I’m not alone in thinking this card is amazing, right?! I know I haven’t captured ALL of the reasons to love this project – what do you love most about it?
