Two of my friends are moving out of state this week, and I wanted to commemorate their new adventure with a gift card that will come in handy when they set up their new apartment on the other side of the country. I grabbed a piece of Designer Series Paper and started cutting, flipping and folding until I arrived at a design that would be a beautiful want to deliver a gift card. Here’s a quick look at the fancy fold gift card holder:
I’m going to walk you through the simple steps to build this fancy fold, but first I want to introduce you to the gorgeous paper I used to make it. The Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper was introduced in last year’s Holiday Mini Catalog – and (great news!) it’s still available online. It’s also (even better news!) a part of the Designer Series Paper Sale that’s going on right now.
Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper:
Here’s how the gift card holder opens up:
I started with a 4″ x 11″ piece of the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper. Since you’ll be showing both sides of the paper, make sure you pick a page with designs that complement each other. That’s what makes this fold so special – showing off both sides. I scored the piece at 3″, 6-1/8″ and the filled the page over to score at 9-1/4″ (this fold goes in the opposite direction). Those define the folds from the right side of the card, working your way back to the left side.
I folded in at the 3″ score line and folded in the flap from the corner to about 1-1/2″ from the bottom. I glued to flap in and then carefully glued down the bottom and left side of the flap. I folded the rest of the gift card holder against the score lines. SO EASY!
I built a belly band with another piece of the Designer Series Paper and added a sentiment from the Greatest Adventure stamp set (framed in Blueberry Bushel and Shaded Spruce). Between the belly band and sentiment, I added Shaded Spruce leaves from the Flowers of Beauty Dies.
Here’s a look at the Greatest Adventure stamp set:
Stamps: Greatest Adventure Papers: Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper, Blueberry Bushel, Shaded Spruce, Basic White Inks: Blueberry Bushel Accessories: Flowers of Beauty Dies, Paper Trimmer, Tear & Tape, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I have more to share about this gift card holder (some behind-the-scenes goodness) in Sunday’s Week in Review post. I hope you’ll come back to check it out.
Thanks for stopping by today!
