Brian’s Week in Review: August 18, 2024

Brian's Week in ReviewI’ve received such wonderful feedback about these Week in Review posts – thank you so much! I really enjoy the look-back at the week, too, and it keeps me on task to make sure I have a balanced, fun week to share with you. 🙂 I want to give a quick rundown of the week (for those who don’t follow me every day) and a little extra background (for those who already tune in every day).

Monday

I kicked off the week with a card that celebrates the warm tones of Fall. We aren’t yet through Summer, but we card makers like to work ahead, huh? This card took on many lives while I was making it, but I’m thrilled with the final result.

Iconic Imagery, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Thanksgiving cardI love that this leaf-and-flowers print from the Designer Series Paper stack takes a new life in the warm colors. I struggled with adding the Linen Thread (but I knew it needed it), so I kept playing until I found something that worked for me. I don’t use ribbon a lot, but I’m always pleased with its contribution to a project when I do.

Tuesday

Still working to future seasons, I made a tall, slender Halloween card to share with you on Tuesday. The Potions & Spells Bundle is such fun – here’s the card I made:

Potions & Spells Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian King, fun Halloween cardIt’s cute, isn’t it?! I don’t love the macabre side of Halloween (and I don’t like to be scared), but I think there’s a fun side of the holiday that celebrates the creativity and fun of youth. This cat and stack of books is quite fun!

Wednesday

Without realizing it, I moved from Thanksgiving to Halloween to Christmas in the first three days of the past week. To honor the Designer Series Paper Sale and my love of this page of the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper, I made this card to share with you on Wednesday:

Iconic Imagery, Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHow gorgeous is that paper?! It’s one of those pages with a design along the top and bottom of the 12″ x 12″ page, making it so easy to make a bunch of cards with a single page.

Thursday

Thursday’s project offers a sneak peek at an incredible embossing folder from the upcoming 2024 Holiday Mini Catalog. How beautiful is the Painted Trees 3D Embossing Folder I used to make this simple, elegant card?

I added my embossed panel to a piece of the Season of Green & Gold Specialty Designer Series Paper (available in the recent Online Exclusives) – you don’t see a lot of it, but it’s a big part of the design.

Friday

Oh, man! I was on a roll last week – five straight days of sweet-and-simple cards with no fillers. 🙂 For Friday’s post, I reached for the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper (also in the current Designer Series Paper Sale) to make a sweet, layered card with a fun presentation of the paper. Here’s my card:

Yesterday I kicked off my Product Shares from Stampin’ Up!’s 2024 Holiday Mini Catalog. How fun! With each share, I offer you a portion of the papers, embellishments and ribbons in the catalog. I also make Designer Series Paper swatch books to showcase the papers and the colors featured in them.

I would love for you to sign up for my shares – you won’t be disappointed!
