Brian’s Week in Review: October 20, 2024

Brian's Week in ReviewIt’s Sunday – and that means it’s time to take a look back at the past week in my Week in Review post. In today’s post, I want to share a quick rundown of the week (for those who don’t follow me every day) and a little extra background (for those who already tune in daily).

Some Personal News

Before I start my Week in Review, I want to share some really big news I’ve been holding on to for about a month. Early next year, I will be retiring from my career job. This is a huge move for me that comes with a lot of thought, many prayers and a little bit of anxiety. I’m currently Director of Corporate Accounting for Cox Enterprises (parent company for Cox Communications, Manheim Auctions, Kelly Blue Book, AutoTrader.com and the Atlanta Journal Constitution). When I was offered an option to retire with a generous severance and great benefits, I couldn’t resist. I have loved my job over the past 23 years, and I will miss my day-to-day, my incredible team and the leaders who inspire me. It’s time, though.

As I embark on this transition, I hope to be a better Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and team leader. I’ll be able to offer more kits, more customer calls and build better customer relationships. I plan to continue blogging daily and hope to build my Stampin’ Up! business a little bit (but I also hope to not overdo it). ♥

Sunday

While I usually kick off my Week in Review with Monday’s project, but my Sunday night post should be recapped here. So many of you left comments on my Blog Candy Giveaway – thank you! On Sunday, I announced that Dawn Schneider had won the goodies. She emailed me, and I mailed her package on Monday – she’s already enjoying her goodies. 🙂

Here’s what Dawn won:

Monday

In last Sunday’s Week in Review, I shared that Jeremiah and I had taken Mom on a Caribbean cruise (we were gone for a week – another little secret I was holding on to). On Monday, I shared some pictures of Mom and me on the boat (but mostly Mom), including a project we made in a cruise-sponsored card class. Here’s my spokesmodel, showing you that card:

Tuesday

My fun trip with Mom was showcased again on Tuesday, but this time I shared pictures of two of the Stampin’ Up! kits Mom and I assembled on the ship – the Christmas Wishes Kit and the Card Keeper Kit. I shared pictures of both and the steps to assemble them. Here’s one:

The projects and photos in Tuesday’s post are a reminder of the Kits Collection sale that’s currently in effect. During October, Stampin’ Up! is offering up to 30% off all kits – to see all the kits on sale, click on the image below:

Wednesday

On Wednesday, I shared a card I made with a new bundle in the Online Exclusives that launch on November 5. As a demonstrator, I can pre-order products from the offering to give me time to play and inspire before the launch.

The Umbrella Days Bundle is a real beauty with sweet images and sentiments. Here’s the card I made:

Thursday

I was back to Christmas on Thursday as I showcased a simple (but still gorgeous) card with the Season of Green & Gold Specialty Designer Series Paper and a sentiment from the Joyful Sayings Ephemera Pack. The simple layout was perfect to spotlight this beautiful sentiment. Here’s that card:

Friday

At one point last week, it struck me that we are half-way through October. Can you believe it?! I love a good parade for holidays, but I often share them ON the holiday, but I shared a Halloween parade on Friday that gives you time to make your projects for the fun, spooky day. My post features 10 projects – some cards and some treat holders. Here’s one of my favorites:

Scary Cute Bundle, Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe stamps, dies and papers used on this card are now retired, but my post showcases some of the Halloween products currently available (there may be more out there than you think!). Saturday

I’ve been itching to work with the Shepherd’s Care stamp set since it arrived – but it’s been on backorder, so it moved to the back of my list. It’s back in stock, though, so I inked that bad boy up! Here’s the card I made with the Shepherd’s Care stamp set:

Shepherd's Care, Falling Snow, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Christmas cardYears and years ago, Mom poured and painted a ceramic Nativity set for me. The set is one of my favorite possessions  The figures in the Nativity are painted light brown and stained with a dark brown – they almost look like wood figures. That set is what inspired me to go with all of the browns in this card.

Coming Up This Week…

I’ll be making more projects this week with new products I’ve pre-ordered from the Online Exclusives that will be launching for customers November 5 – and there will be more from Christmas. I hope you’ll come back.

Thanks for stopping by today!
