I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers on Saturday. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always impressed by what others are making and love to spend that time with my customers who participate. I made a little boo boo with the scheduling for this call, so I’m hosting another call next weekend – always such fun!
April’s Inked Occasions kit features gorgeous patterns that look like alcohol ink splotches – and the beautiful sentiments that share love and concern. The colors are incredible! I love the designs of the cards in the kit, but the individual elements are so much more fun. I couldn’t help but to make alternative projects with these products. Who doesn’t love to play?! Today I’m sharing two alternative cards I made with April’s kit. I was happy to share these cards during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call – and I’m happy to share these with you today.
More About The Kit
The designed projects in April’s kit are really beautiful. You don’t need to change a think to make nine cards you’ll love and be happy to send to friends and family. Here’s a look at the finished projects (as designed) from April’s Inked Occasions Paper Pumpkin Kit:
The card bases and elements in the kit are gorgeous – AND the coordinating stamp set is a keeper (I’ve set it aside to keep in my stash long after this kit is gone)! Here’s a look at the stamp set that came with the kit:
Alternative Projects
While I really like the kit’s cards as designed, I wanted to play with the contents of the kit to make something a little different. The cards I’m sharing today are designed around this detailed punch out of leaves and flowers from the kit:
The left panel is the front of the detailed images (as designed for the kit), and the right panel show the flip side of the images. The cards I’m sharing today showcase the back side of these leaves and flowers – I snipped them mid-way (there’s a simple break in the design that makes it easy to snip) and added color/embossing powder to each to make these cards:
The black and gold colors on these images give them an entirely different look, don’t they? Let’s take a closer look.
I Here for You
How bold are the leaves in black? I simply used the brush tip of a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to add depth and drama to the leaves, including the base of the punched-out panel. Here’s a closer look at the finished card:
I framed the focal panel with Basic Black to accent the foliage I had colored. I stamped the sentiment (from the coordinating stamp set) on a 1/4″ strip of Basic White that I popped up with Dimensionals. I decorated the card with three Pool Party dots from the Ombre Matte Decorative Dots.
The inside of the card is stamped with “Thinking of you,” also from the stamp set that coordinates with the kit.
You Are Amazing
The second card features the other side of the same card base from the kit. I cropped the panel just around the gold frame on the panel and added a thin border of Berry Burst to coordinated with the card base. I placed the flowers on a piece of scrap paper and stamped a Versamark pad over and over on them and carefully placed the flowers my Embossing Tool Kit tray and generously poured Gold Embossing Powder over them. I heated the flowers with my Heat Tool to create a gorgeous shine. Here’s a closer look at this card:
Like the first card, I added a trio of tiny dots from the Ombre Matte Decorative Dots. Since there are no pink dots in the pack, I colored three of the light Calypso Coral dots with a Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Marker.
The inside of the card is stamped with “Congratulations,” also from the stamp set that coordinates with this kit.

Your cards are beautiful, Brian. I’m sorry I missed the Zoom chat. It wasn’t on my calendar. Ugh! I’m sure the group had lots of fun alternative designs. Enjoy your day!
As much as I love the kit, I really love your alternates – especially the card with the black accents!
