A Friend Card with Happy Hibiscus

Every summer, for the past several years, my mom has given us a hibiscus plant to brighten up our back porch. It’s become a little tradition I look forward to – potting the plant in just the right spot and waiting for those first buds to bloom. One day there are three blossoms, and the next, two more appear. The hibiscus plant feels like a little burst of sunshine, and it inspired the card I’m sharing with you today! Here’s my card:

The flower, the leaves, and even that fun label shape all come from the Happy Hibiscus Bundle. I love how easy it was to mix and match the elements – and that label is perfect for quick sentiments that still pack a punch! Here’s a look at the Happy Hibiscus Bundle:

I stamped stamped the leaves with the Happy Hibiscus stamp set and colored them Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. While there are stamps to crop the leaves, I snipped them (so I wouldn’t have to get up and walk over to my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine). 🙂

Gorgeous Happy Hibiscus Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingIf you looked past the gorgeous flower, then you saw the textured backdrop I created on the 2-5/8″ x 3-7/8″ Pool Party panel. To build that look, I stamped the solid images of the flowers over and over with the same color of ink, stamping some of the images off once before stamping on the paper. Here’s a closer look:

While my card also features Granny Apple Green, it’s the mix of pink, blue and gray that I love so much, If you love this mix of Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party and Basic Gray as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party, Basic GrayTo coordinate with the Basic Gray card base and add a little extra shine, I added a trio of Basic Gray pearls from the Basic Gray & Smoky Slate Pearls.
