Fright Night Meets Fall: A Spooky-Chic Card

After a delicious brunch yesterday, we wandered into HomeGoods in search of a couple of odds and ends. The place was bursting with Halloween and Fall décor – aisles upon aisles of pumpkins, candles, and spooky delights. We had no plans to indulge … but somehow left with kitchen towels, two glass pumpkins, and a hauntingly fun candlestick holder. Clearly, the Halloween spirit had followed me home – because when I sat down to create, this festive card came to life:

Fright Night Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Halloween cardMy card features a playful label stamp (and two coordinating dies) from the Fright Night Bundle. While this set is packed with so many other great elements—spider webs, a creepy-crawly spider, banners, and fantastic sentiments—I decided to bring in a few other supporting characters to complement the label. Here’s a look at the Fright Night Bundle:

If you love fun Halloween projects (and I know you’re cool like that!), don’t wait to order your Halloween craft supplies – now is the perfect time! The Cajun Craze/Calypso Coral and black plaid band on my card comes from the Weekend Adventures Designer Series Paper.

Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Weekend Adventures Designer Series Paper:

page from Weekend Adventures Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!I embossed a panel of Cajun Craze cardstock with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder to add a touch of texture. Three strands of black twine are tied beneath the label, creating a subtle, spiderweb-like effect. For a perfectly coordinated finish, I colored three white Neutral Matte Dots with Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends. Here’s a closer look:

  4. Mad about the plaid. Well done!

  5. I love the embossed strips along with the pretty plaid and the great stamped image. A wonderful start to the Halloween season. It seems each holiday season comes earlier each year. Enjoy your day, my friend.

    • Thanks, Hilda! I had fun with this one. I agree – I won’t put out Halloween stuff until October, but I know it will be here soon. Hopefully. 🙂

  6. The embellishment on the card reminds me of the old candy dots! Love
Them because they are flat, but drawn to the eye. Eye pleasing card!

    • I love that, Barbara! I love these little dots. Black felt too dark, and white was too bright. I love that I could color them to get exactly what I wanted. Thanks! ♥

  7. It’s nice that shopping gave you creative inspiration! I chuckled my way through your post, thanks for the happy and inspiring wake-up!
