Paper Pumpkin Alternative – Watercolor in Bloom (December 2025)

On Saturday, I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon calls, I share fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always so impressed by what others are making—and I wish I could bottle the joy of these calls to share with you. They are always such fun!

Pumpkin in the Fungeon, Brian KingThe Watercolor in Bloom Paper Pumpkin Kit can be used to make nine beautiful  cards with lovely watercolor and blue-and-green backdrops. The designs are gorgeous and easy to construct as designed, but we always like to play with the elements to see what else we can make with them.

More About The Kit

The cards in December’s kit come together beautifully – you don’t have to change a thing to create beautiful, as-designed cards you’d be happy to send to friends and family. Here’s a look at the finished projects as designed:

I love the variety of punch-out flowers and background panels on these cards. AND…don’t miss the gorgeous envelopes! Here’s a look at the bold stamp set that came with the kit:

Stampin’ Up! has also released refills for this kit in the online store (you can’t go wrong with a few more gift card holders, can you?). Refills include everything but the Stampin’ Spot and the stamp set. Check it out here.

Alternative Project

As lovely as the as-designed projects are in this kit, I also made several cards with the kit elements to share on Saturday’s call. Here is one of the projects I showcased during Saturday’s call:

Alternative card with Watercolor in Bloom Paper Pumpkin Kit, Stampin' Up!, Brian King 1 of 3I love the blue-and-green leaves and white flowers in the kit – and I adore the copper accents.

My card mixes elements from two of the as-designed cards in the Paper Pumpkin Kit, but there’s a fun fold here I want to show you. For starters, the card base is a Night of Navy panel with Shaded Spruce leaves. I trimmed 1″ off either side of the front of the card (trimming from the bottom to the 4-1/4″ score line on each side). I glued the 1″ strips to the card base below so that the middle panel would open up.

Here’s how it opens:
