Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Did you stay up to watch the ball drop – or the lobster, peach, or sparkly flip-flop? Whether you were out celebrating when the clock struck midnight or already tucked into bed, I have a sneaky suspicion you might be a little sleepy today. πŸ™‚

The past week has been dedicated to today’s turn of the calendar. On Tuesday, I shared a super-cool black-and-white New Year’s card – very formal and dressed up for the occasion. To see that card, CLICK HERE. Yesterday, I gave you a closer look at the story behind five of my favorite projects from the past year. To see that post, CLICK HERE.

Today, I’m sharing another New Year’s card – a more casual design featuring a stamp set that will be available when the new catalog launches on January 6.

Here’s the New Year’s card I made to share with you today:

Reason to Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Happy New Year cardMy card features a sentiment from the Reason to Celebrate stamp set (available January 6) paired with a disco ball from the Time for Celebration Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. How perfect is a disco ball for a New Year’s celebration?! If you have this ephemera pack on hand, you might want to whip up a quick New Year’s card before the season officially slips away. πŸ™‚

Here’s a look at the Time for Celebration Mix & Match Ephemera Pack:

Reason to Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, 166905Here’s a closer look at the sentiment I built on my card:

Reason to Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Happy New Year cardThis card was heavily inspired by one of Stampin’ Up!’s sample cards created to support the new stamp set. I stamped the sentiment across the disco ball and again on the Timid Tiger band, then positioned the two pieces so they look seamless on the card front.

The sample in the online store keeps things simple with one or two layers. I planned to do the same… but then added a white frame, followed by a Pool Party frame, and finally a frame of Secret Sea. As usual, I layered and layered and layered until it felt just right.

To finish things off, I accented the card with five shiny Secret Sea dots from the 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls. Such a fun and festive way to start the year!

Final Thoughts

Whether your New Year’s celebration was big and sparkly or quiet and cozy, I hope 2026 is off to a great start for you. This card felt like the perfect mix of casual and celebratory – and a fun reminder that it’s never too late to send a little happy mail to ring in a new year.
