Yesterday I was excited to share the first card I made with the Fragrant Layers Bundle. I walked you through how the elements in the dies work – they are a little different from what we expect, but that’s exactly what makes them refreshing and fun to play with. CLICK HERE to see that post.
I’m back today (as promised) with a second card I made using the floral frame die from the Fragrant Layers Bundle, and I think you’ll agree this one has a completely different look. Here’s the card I made to share with you today:
In yesterday’s card, I stamped the floral background and then framed it with the intricate die. For today’s card, I decided to let the die take center stage and simply showcase it on its own. This is the part where you might expect me to tell you how I masterfully watercolored the background with a mix of blue and purple inks. Surprise! That gorgeous backdrop is actually a piece of Designer Series Paper. ♥
Here’s a look at the Fragrant Layers Bundle, new in this week’s Online Exclusives launch:
I cropped the floral die cut into a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ piece of Thick Basic White cardstock and layered it over a page from the Thoughtful Journey 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. The soft colors and movement in this paper make it a perfect pairing. Here’s a closer look:
Thoughtful Journey is a long-popular Designer Series Paper, and for good reason. The mix of colors and patterns makes it incredibly versatile. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns included in the Thoughtful Journey 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:
I heat embossed a “SENDING LOVE” sentiment from the Friendly Foliage Bundle and accented it with vellum leaves from the Fragrant Layers Dies (link in the products listing below). The vellum accents are super-soft and tie in beautifully with the vellum layer I added to the outside of the card. Here’s a closer look:
To finish the card, I added five Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels. They’re such a sweet finishing touch and add just the right amount of shine without taking away from the other elements on the card.
Final Thoughts
I love how the same bundle can create such different looks just by changing how you use the dies and background. This card feels soft, elegant, and a little unexpected – all thanks to a great die and some thoughtfully chosen layers.

I’m swooning here. That second layer is vellum, yes? These colors look like this morning’s sky. It’s amazing what you can do with paper, Brian. Probably my favorite card ever.
Wow! Thanks, Cindie! That makes me so, so happy. Yes – the layer between the base and the first layer of Basic White is Vellum. Love it soo much.
