Sending Love with January’s Special Delivery Paper Pumpkin Kit

On Monday, I shared an alternative project I made with January’s Special Delivery Paper Pumpkin Kit – you can see that project here. Today, I’m sharing another card from my Pumpkin in the Fungeon call from last weekend. This card gave me everything I love about beautiful patterns and perfect colors – a chef’s kiss of a simple, but layered card.

Here’s a beautifully blue card that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, but also works beautifully as a card of sympathy or encouragement:

The blue plaid design at the center of my card is pulled from one of the envelopes in the kit – a perfect backdrop for a clean and sweet card.

I was immediately drawn to the blue envelope (the kit includes three blue, three green, and three pink envelopes), but I wasn’t sure what shade of blue it was. It’s too soft for Balmy Blue and too blue for Pool Party or Cloud Cover. When I referenced the kit instructions, Blueberry Bushel made total sense – and the card truly came alive when I added Blueberry Bushel accents.

Behind the focal panel, I added layers of Blueberry Bushel cardstock, along with Basic White and Vellum Cardstock. I heat-embossed a sentiment from the kit on a small panel of Blueberry Bushel cardstock and finished the card with a trio of Opal Rounds, which I colored first with a Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Blend.

If you’d like to recreate this card (or something similar), here are the measurements for the layers, starting with the card base and working my way up:

  • Blueberry Bushel – 4-1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 5-1/2″)
  • Vellum – 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Stampin Dimensionals
  • Basic White – 3-3/8″ x 4-7/8″
  • Blueberry Bushel – 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″
  • Special Delivery Envelope – 3-1/8″ x 4-5/8″
  • Special Delivery Flowers
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Blueberry Bushel – 1-3/8″ x 3/4″

I love how this card proves that “simple” doesn’t have to mean plain. A single patterned envelope, the right shade of blue, and a few well-chosen layers can do all the heavy lifting. This is one of those designs you’ll find yourself recreating again and again.
