Spinning Into Fun – Vicki’s “Out of This World” Interactive Card

Oh, boy – do I have a super-fun card to share with you today! This one has me spinning (literally)!

I’m so lucky to receive gorgeous cards from so many of you, and I truly love them all. Every once in a while, though, one arrives that I just have to share. The moment I received this “out of this world” card from my dear friend, Vicki Heinecke, I knew I needed to quickly snap some photos and even capture a quick video to show you.

Here’s the incredible card Vicki sent:

by Vicki Heinecke, Moon & Back, Stampin' Up!Vicki’s card features a variety of images from the Moon & Back stamp set – a set that honestly wasn’t even on my radar until yesterday afternoon!

She layered everything onto a deep, rich sheet of the (now retired) Everyday Skies 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. If you don’t have that paper, don’t worry – there are some beautiful darker patterns in the Nature Walk Designer Series Paper that would give you a similar night-sky feel.

Here’s a closer look at the moon, sentiment, and astronaut:

And now for the really fun part…

The moon is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, but the astronaut? He spins!

Vicki mounted him on a tiny spinning fingernail charm bearing, creating a clever little DIY spinner element that brings the whole card to life. The small bearing lets him rotate freely on the card (and he doesn’t even get nauseous!).

Since photos just don’t do it justice, I put together a quick video so you can see it in action:

How fun is that?!

These little “spinning fingernail charm bearings” were first mentioned during my Gears & Textures class – yes, really! They’re typically used to make tiny gems spin on manicures. I love that Vicki took that idea, did a quick Amazon search, and turned it into something so creative for cardmaking.

Even better – she tucked a few of those bearings into the card she sent me… so you can bet you’ll be seeing some spinny projects from me very soon. ♥

Inspiration can come from anywhere – even something as unexpected as a nail art supply!

What I love most about this project isn’t just the adorable design – it’s the creativity behind that simple DIY spinner element. It takes a fun card and turns it into an experience, something playful and interactive that makes you stop, smile and engage with it in a whole new way.

I suspect you love Vicki’s card as much as I do. ♥

Thanks for stopping by today!
